Holly Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
If you're having trouble forming these, you may have over- or under-cooked the marshmallow mix. After it gets smooth and melted, I cook it about another minute before adding the corn flakes. Any longer and it's too hot to touch and they get hard too fast. Any shorter and they stay too gooey -- won't set except in the fridge.

Chicken with Cranberries

This was really good. Next time I'll add a little more nutmeg, maybe some cinnamon and some extra vinegar. Or a few pepper flake. A little more kick would put it over the top.

All American Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Great pie!. I didn't make the crust, but the topping was yummy and the filling was perfect. I didn't take the other reviewers' suggestion of cooking it or adding cornstarch. I did cut the (granny smith) apples into a 1/2 inch dice, reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup. It was plenty sweet and the apples were well cooked after 45 min. It needed 4 minutes on broil at the end to brown up the topping. Mmmmmm.

Pizza On The Grill II

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2009
Wow! Pillsbury canned dough never tasted so good. One can makes two medium-sized (square) pizzas. Margherita style was the best ever: sautee fresh garlic in olive oil, add fresh basil briefly. Spread on the crust, top with very thinly sliced tomatoes & fresh mozz. Bellisimo!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Excellent classic banana bread. This takes 7 or 8 bananas. When I only have a few overripe, I peel them and put them in the fridge. They get really black but are so sweet and not rotten-tasting at all. I save those until I have enough to make this and it turns out Extry Good!

Sweet Potato Pie II

Yum! I substituted 3/4 c condensed milk for the evap milk & sugar. I also used fresh ground ginger, nutmeg & cinnamon. Fluffy & delicious. Even my 6-year old son liked it!

Autumn Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
My Mom used to make something similar with only peppers for veggies. She'd shred the roasted beef and serve it all over rice. This was a huge hit with my potroast-loving husband who's very um ... discerning. Yeah, discerning. Thanks for sharing this!

Asian Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
We thought these were excellent, although the kids didn't care for them much. They were salty and the skewers burned so next time I'll remember to use low sodium soy sauce and to soak the skewers in water first. Thanks for sharing!

Banana-Dulce de Leche Pie (Banana-Caramel Pie)

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
This pie was very good. If you can't stand the clattering sound of the can boiling, lay it on its side. Next time, I'll use two cans of condensed milk because the caramel was everybody's favorite part.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Wow! Also excellent with drizzled with chocolate: spread carmel corn on a cookie sheet, heat almond bark (it's chocolate coating, no almonds in it!) according to microwave directions, drizzle and cool in the fridge for 10 minutes. Awesome.

Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
Mmmmmm. So good! Tip for keeping the pretzel crust from getting soggy: spread the cream cheese mixture all the way to the edge of the pan so you form a good barrier before adding the jello. My husband didn't like it, but all the more for me! Woohoo!

Maple Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
I wish there was a way to comment about a recipe without rating it. I changed the recipe by using vanilla extract instead of maple and a little less baking soda (which was plenty), and used a commercial, non-pure maple syrup. I'd only give the result 2 stars (but I didn't want to bring down the average). Really, it was pretty bland. Next time, if I didn't have maple extract on hand, I'd use the vanilla, but also add more bananas, cinnamon and raisins. The texture's OK. It just needs more flavor.
