About this Cook
I am a full-time dad looking for some positive outlets and cooking happens to be one of them (a little motherly influence). I hope that I can be good enough to think of things to make every night, though right now we don't have to worry too much about that.
My favorite things to cook
I love making food for Raina and Tiffany that they actually like. They are very critical of what I make, bake or fry. I don't have anything that's favorite yet, as I am just getting an idea of the range of cuisines.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pound cake. My mom has a family recipe that is outstanding. It's been passed down for quite some time, and I hope to have it one day.
My cooking triumphs
I have successfully prepared hot chocolate in a snap for my wife when she had some guests over. She was a little skeptical, but in the end knew that I would pull it off -- pretty sad though that hot chocolate is my triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a white sauce to accompany some pasta, which started to separate once the guests showed up and numerous other cooking fiascos -- I keep trying because I know I'll perfect cooking meals one day.

Three-Cheese Spaghetti Bake
It was okay. My wife did not particularly like it, but I thought that it was a decent meal.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust
Works for me! I like to make apple pies and this helps me to feel like I am making a real homemade dessert.

Momma's Mashed Potatoes
My wife prepared these mashed potatoes and they were good. They were a little dry with only a 1/2 cup of half-and-half, but nonetheless, I thought that this was a good all-around hearty batch of mashed tators. It's a winner!
