About this Cook
I'm a high school student who love to bake. I run year-round: cross-country, indoor track and spring track. Other than that, I play the piano, love to read and write, generally do well in school, and, of course, bake whenever I get the chance!
My favorite things to cook
Cookies! I also love to bake cakes, but I can never get them out of the pan. They taste great but are so ugly! Chili and cornbread, or tofu and vegetables are also fun and tasty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad used to make "melted cheese" every Saturday. He'd melt some cheddar in a frying pan and then we'd all dip bread into it. Delicious! My friend Giselle and I enjoy "snickerdoodles and tea" during sleepovers.
My cooking triumphs
For my brother Aaron's 18th birthday, my sister and I baked him 18 different types of cake! We kept it a surprise and he was completely shocked. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of baking.
My cooking tragedies
For a 7th grade Social Studies project, I made a chocolate espresso cake following what I'm told is an Indonesian recipe. It called for 1 cup of espresso. Instead of using 1 cup of brewed coffee, I dumped 1 cup of ground coffee beans into the batter! My teacher certainly loved it!

So far so good! I'll see how they are tomorrow.

Whipped Cream
So good! I doubled the vanilla because we buy imitation. Next time hopefully we'll get the real stuff; if not, I'll use clear because this batch came out a little golden. I might leave out the sugar next time too! Nothing beats homemade whipped cream. Nothing.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
I followed PLAYKITTENPIE's alterations (use brown sugar, up the cocoa to 3 heaping tbsp, decrease cornstarch to a little over 2 tbsp). I think next time I'll use a little less cocoa - it was a tad strong for me. I doubled the vanilla because we buy imitation, and I also added in the last few drops of (imitation) coconut extract and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Divvied it up into 5 parfait glass and they look beautiful! Once they cool, I'll top them with homemade whipped cream - "Whipped Cream," submitted by MOOZOGASSIR.
