I am a busy mom of four girls, ages 4, 9, 15 and 18. The youngest came from a cabbage patch! I work as a nursing supervisor and also work from home so quick and simple with a good dose of healthiness describes most of my meals. Hey, we all have to splurge once in a while!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking the most, next comes my trusty slow cooker. After that, I am game for most anything and fancy myself to be good around the kitchen. With four girls I have to be. Whoever thinks boys eat you out of house and home never had girls!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The most enjoyable activity is when I can get the girls together and make a meal we all took part in. We get to bond and I get to teach them how to cook without them knowing it, shhhh! Being of Cuban/Brasilian heritage, getting together with family and cooking and bonding is the best tradition I could pass down to my children.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph was making dinner for my mother and she actually complemented me! She thought I would starve to death or live off of fast food once I left for college but I fooled her good!
My cooking tragedies
Well not so much of a tragedy but once I decided to take a short cut and use canned diced tomatoes and they ended up being seasoned with chili pepper and I added it to my pasta sauce before I realized it! I always make scratch pasta sauce but hey, I am a working woman! Long story short, my 9 year old said "Mom, that was for the tacos!". It ended up tasting pretty good.
