About this Cook
I am retired. I raised four daughters with the help of my husband. We were involved in sports as my husband coached our daughters in Fast Pitch Softball and we traveled to many states. I catered weddings and baked large and small wedding cakes. Now my hobby seems to be organizing recipes and trying out new recipes as often as I can. I also have started a quilt...the key word here is"started".
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making desserts and casseroles. Also new ways to serve meats. I make harty soups & Chowders.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have had Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners in our home for thirty-five years. I have tried several new dishes as well as the traditional dishes for these holidays. Some of the recipes I got from T.V. cook shows.
My cooking triumphs
My family tells me its the holiday dishes I make. They look forward to these gatherings. Not only do we eat but we have groups playing horse shoes, basketball, softball & volleyball. We have special games for the small children such as blowing bubbles, swinging on a tire swing, playing with a giant ball, and other safe games. In the Summer we have cook-outs and on one "Fourth" cook-out we had 95 guests. Let the games begin.
My cooking tragedies
This happened in our early marriage. I made a casserole using corn, pork chops and I dont remember the other ingredients. While we were eating my husband said "And what is the name of this" I jumped up and ran to the open cook book and told him what it was called then I sat back down. He waited awhile and quietly said "Well, you dont need to make it again" While I was disappointed 'then', we later had some laughs about how he handled it.

Oil Pie Crust
I made this recipe tonight and it was very tough. I realized why when I reviewed the ingredients. The recipe called for 2 3/4 Cups Flour...too much. The most flour to be used with 1/2 C oil should be 2 1/4 C Flour and the least amount to be used is 2 Cups. Had to throw my pie away. Becky S
