About this Cook
I began cooking at a very early age. I can remember making cookies with my Aunt when I was very little. I think I really developed a love for cooking as I got older. This is partially attributed to survival of the fittest (my mother is an admitted lousy cook). I was determined not to have so-so meals for my family and that began my quest to becoming a wonderful cook. I do not believe in making anything from a box they have too many items I can't pronounce not the mention the amount of sodium. I am a stay at home mom and feel obligated to provide my family with the best food possible. I take a lot of pride in being able to make everything in my kitchen from scratch. I also feel it teaches my 18 month old son to enjoy the art of cooking and reap the benefits of hard work. Even at 18 months he loves to help me measure, mix and pour ingredients. Cooking for me is a big confidence booster. It feels good to make something from scratch with your own hands and it turn out well.
My favorite things to cook
EVERYTHING!! I love to bake...Especially from scratch let's see I like to make danishes, cookies, muffins, cheesecakes well, just about everything!!! I love to try new recipes that is what brought me to this website.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am making my own with my 18 month old son. My mother doesn't enjoy cooking and self admits she is not very good at it. We did make Christmas cookies each year but other than that...not much.
My cooking triumphs
I actually have just recently mastered french pastry dough and my husband feels as though he is the luckiest man on earth. I have also just recently replicated a trail mix cookie that is a favorite in my town and is sold in a local bakery. Look for the recipe soon.
My cooking tragedies
WOW-I have had quite a few. Probably the most memorable for me was when I was a child and made a cookie for my father called a "pinwheel" which is basically pie dough spread with butter, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, rolled jellyroll style and sliced. Well, I got the measurements for the pie crust wrong and put in 1 c. of salt ILO 1 tsp. (remember I was probably 8 or 9) and you might as well say that memory was "hardened in history".

Honey Bun Cake I
I have tried this cake several times and to no avail. I can't stand boxed cake mixes and I will not make any recipe here that calls for it. I went against better judgement and tried it as the recipe stated and I got a mushy mess no matter how long I cooked it. I then tried it with my tried and true homemade ingredients (for a basic yellow cake) it was awful as well. It also is sickening sweet...Sorry, I don't usually leave critical reviews but this was bad

Buttery Rolls
Very good recipe. I don't have a breadmaker anymore so I use my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and just dissolve the yeast and be sure to melt the butter all the way before using.

Too Much Chocolate Cake
Very good...I actually despise anything that is box mix so I use my homemade chocolate cake recipe minus any of the wet ingredients and it comes out awesome.
