I love to cook and entertain and I am always looking for new recipies to try. New recipies or techniques interest me and I like to try them all when I am entertaining. Cooking appetizers are fun. They are just a bite and need to be flavourful and interesting to entice your guests but not filling enough to ruin the meal you are preparing. I also like different ethnic foods and will occasionally invite friends over for a trip to a foreign land. With family and friends we get together for holidays and celebrations and each person has part of the meal. A group of friends have gathered together every new years for 30 years. We bring in the New Year by eating a wonderful meal over a 4 hour time and then at midnight we take a walk in the brisk winter air. I have made many memorable meals and my neices all have their favourites. There is not a family gathering that we get together for that I am not asked to bring my ham puffs or jalapeno poppers. Last Christmas we did the whole day with appetizers and everyone brought something different so we grazed all day rather than eat a big meal as many of us went to at least one other Christmas dinner. Some of my attempts at new things have ended in disaster. Last year's peach marmalade is one such event. I used to make peach marmalade years ago but I lost my recipe so I tried a new one this year. It was awful. Back to the drawing board.
