About this Cook
I'm 46 live in SE Kansas, have 3 children, 2 girls 24 & 18, and one boy 14. I started riding a motorcycle 2 years ago and absolutely love it, just got back (August 2009) from a 3250 mile trip to Yellowstone, Grand tetons, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Sturgis, wow how awsome! Last year a 3100 mile motorcycle trip to Grand Cnayon. In June 2009 My oldest daughter got married, and my 18 yr. old graduated busy summer but so much fun
My favorite things to cook
I love trying and cooking new things. My favorites are main dish and desserts. I make an Angel fruit trifle that is to die for
My favorite family cooking traditions
each person in my extended family has some dish they are known for and are required to bring it to holliday dinners, everyone looks forward to each others specialities.
My cooking triumphs
When my husband and I were dating I made him orange ruffy on the grill with lemon, onion, garlic, salt and pepper & wrapped it in foil, He was so impressed he says now that is why he married me, ha ha so easily impressed.
My cooking tragedies
The first week I was married our landlord put a new oven in but the temp was off a lot!! I was unaware of this at the time and made cabbage rolls for the first time, they came out charred crisp and black, that night we went out to eat. I can laugh now but at the time trying to impress my husband and then burning supper not a pretty sight.

Sara's Iced Coffee
THE BEST, My husband suprised me by looking this recipe up by himself :) and making it for me, DELICIOUS!! we make it all the time, if we have left over coffee we refridgerate it and make the syrup part of the recipe, combine and have iced coffee on hand most days so yummy thanks for sharing note: a small amount of vanilla coffee creamer in your glass as you mix it is also tasty

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta
Very yummy, I added a little red onion, red bell pepper personal taste and a little extra garlic. I listened to others comments and cut back on the cajun spice and only used 1 TBL. not 2 it was not enough. maybe my spice was not very strong, I am not into really spicy food a little kick yes but not real hot either next time I will add at least one and a half TBL. but we still loved this dish. VERY YUMMY!

Ham and Beans
made yesterday, had to add additional seasonings to get more flavor but was still a little bland, I think I will add more seasoning next time maybe more garlic & pepper, I did use crushed red pepper not cayenne, I didnt use enough though, and I added shredded carrots, and used red onion, only used 2 TBL. brown sugar might use 3 next time. I also used a can of chicken broth. This was good but not great, but could be with the right additions, thanks
