About this Cook
I'm a college student at the University of California, Davis, majoring in managerial economics. I love baking and fattening up my friends. I don't really do any of the hobbies that they let you choose from in the "hobbies" section, so I'll list them here. I've been swimming since I was really small. I also love board games, music, dancing, reading, and useless trivia. I enjoy but am not very good at: gymnastics, guitar, surfing, and ultimate frisbee.
My favorite things to cook
I have a major sweet tooth, so my favorites are baked goods, like cookies, quick breads, and muffins. I love using my ice cream machine, although I'm not very experienced with it. And I'm a HUGE fan of group-friendly desserts, like fondue and monkey bread! As for entree-type foods, casseroles and soups in bread bowls are among my favorites. And I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably the most unique thing my mom did was let us sleep with a big jar of sake (rice wine) in our sheets, since the warmth in the bed sped up the fermentation.
My cooking triumphs
I'm pretty proud of baking and selling thousands of cookies to raise money for my sister's triathlon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. $420 came in over just 2 weeks!
My cooking tragedies
Misreading a sponge cake recipe so the batter oozed out of the tube pan in the oven, filling the house with smoke; using jello pudding to frost a cake because I didn't have chocolate frosting; there are so many! And I once did the math wrong when doubling a recipe for apple crisp and QUADRUPLED the butter. It was more like apple sludge, and I'm sure that dessert took about 10 years off the life of each person who partook.

Butternut Squash and Turkey Chili
Easy, healthy, and hearty! Ignore where it says it serves 12, though. I think this, along with some crusty bread or some sweet cornbread, would have served 4 perfectly.

Iced Tea III
This was great! I also bruised up a bunch of mint and threw it in there. It was really refreshing with a heavy dinner of fried food.
