strawberry/rhubarb crumb pie
About this Cook
I was born and raised by parents immigrated from Italy to Canada. So of course my mother taught me alot, not ALL, as I then worked for over 20 years in the Food & Beverage Industry, where i learned alot about basic cooking and basic. My first interest in cooking: Homec Grade 8
My favorite things to cook
Wish I had more time, but I like making everything, from homemade sauces and salsa, with all the tomatoes I grow. I also grow herbs to use in my cooking. I like to make bread, lasagna, ravioli, anything Italian. I also love to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian all the way, my husband is french though, so I have also learned a few traditions of his, like tortiere.
My cooking triumphs
Tried a recipe for Ciabatta bread, didnt think I could make it, also foccacia bread, would also have loved to cook for alot of people at one time, but never have. I do make ALOT of pies when apples are season, tortieres at christmas, which freeze well.
My cooking tragedies
I once accidently use baking soda in my stew, thinking it was salt. I tried to rinse off the meat and veggies and make a new gravy but it didnt work, it tasted awful, in the garbage.

Salmon Cakes II
delicious! I didnt have the cheese, so I left it out. I did add some finely diced red pepper. It was really moist. I will definitely make again, and next time I will add the cheese.

Best Egg Rolls
You only have to read the ingredients to know it will be bland. But I'm giving 5 stars as this is an excellent base recipe. You can add whatever you want to your own liking. I used 4 cups cabbage, added 2 green onions, sesame oil, soy sauce and fresh garlic. I omitted the flour water mixture and used a raw egg to bind the ingredients. I used another egg to brush along edges of rolls to make it stick together better. I didnt roll with the point toward me. Did them as a square. They were really fast and better than some restaurant ones I've tasted.

Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey
Didnt give 5 stars because it was a little too sweet. I only added 1/2 the oil, but I should have only added half the honey. Other than that, it was really good, I served with chicken satay.
