I am in school now> I love to exercise. I'm apart of my school's track and cross country team. When I am not juggling school work and track practice, I love to search for new recipes or think of ideas that I can try and experiment with.
My favorite things to cook
I love to fried dumlpings, Jamaican Festivals, chicken, ground turkey meat with spaghetti or any noodles, Mac and cheese, salads, pancakes, french toast, fruit salads, french crepes, rice (occasionally), patty crust, coco bread, eggs and turkey bacon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Carribean foods all from dumplings, to soups, to curry/jerk chicken and rice.
My cooking triumphs
The latest is the imfamous Apple Pie (Apple Pie by Grandma Ople). I added some things to that mix and it was lovely. Also I'm known for my banana pancakes, fried dumplings and omelettes.
My cooking tragedies
The very very first thing I ever baked was an oatmeal cake. What had happen was I did not take my time and read the ingredients throughly. When it said to add one(1) TEASPOON of salt, I added one(1) CUP of SALT. And then to top it off, it said to add a 1/2 TEASPOON of baking soda and I put a HALF CUP!!! The cake did smell really nice when it was baking in the oven because I did not screw the other ingredients, but smell can be diceiving. When my mother and I took the cake out, it looked really "ashy" and crispy. And knowing that it was my first time baking, she tried to make me feel better and said " It doesn't look too bad... Let's get a taste!" Oh my goodness, all the kindness went out the door when she said " I'm sorry, I can't eat this. My blood pressure will go up." We couldn't stop laughing the rest of the day. But I will say one more thing. I made that same cake for the second time and got IT down to the "T". See everyone, reading brings you far.
