I started learning how to cook from my mom. With eight kids, it was a necessity. However, I was limited to cooking staples such as chicken, breakfast foods, steak, macaroni and cheese and things like that. I really didn’t explore cooking until recently when I got married.
My favorite things to cook
I am learning that I love to cook pasta with cream sauces. (Tastes great but not kind to my waiste line)I also enjoy baking, but I'm not that good yet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The holidays have always been memorable at my mom and dad's house. My mom usually cooks and my sisters and I contribute dishes too. I hope to carry on this tradition when my husband and I have children of our own.
My cooking triumphs
I haven't had a triumph yet. Most of the recipes I make come out good, but I haven't really tried to make anything super hard.
My cooking tragedies
Well...it was kind of a tragedy. I was making a chocolate cake for my housewarming party. I knew it seemed too thick as I poured it into the cake pans, but I just put it in the oven anyway. While making the second cake, I realized that I didn't add water to the first cake. All in all, it seemed bad, but the first cake turned out to be a brownie like consistency. I just layered it good cake, bad cake, good cake, bad cake and iced it as usual. Surprisingly, the cake got rave reviews. I guess it wasn’t a tragedy after all.
