About this Cook
I used to be scared to cook, especially since I couldn't even do "Rice A Roni" correctly, now I know that if you read directions properly and do what they say, it's a rare thing to have a recipe not turn out. I'm excited to finally be at the point where I can experiment in the kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I really will try to cook anything at least once, and I think that overall I enjoy the experience of cooking more than anything. Of course having something yummy to eat at the end of the experience is good, too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mostly comfort foods like Turkey or Chicken and Noodles, Pasty, etc.
My cooking triumphs
General Tso's Chicken! After receiving a basic recipe from a friend, I scoured the internet for others and did comparisons. First on paper, then on the stove. After several attempts and tweaks, I have a recipe that is spot-on for my favorite Chinese takeout! And then there's the Tiramisu...
My cooking tragedies
I would be remiss if I didn't say there have been some major yucks: including a goat meat dish! Rather than dwell though, I build on what I can only see as experience. "Well, I know to not do THAT again!"

Shepherd's Pie VI
This was delicious!! I made it as posted with three exceptions: I use "Better Than Bullion" as opposed to beef bullion or beef broth, added a clove of minced garlic and all I had in the house was Colby cheese. This goes in the permanent file!

Rich Chocolate Frosting
This is the most delicious chocolate frosting I have ever made! I love that it uses no shortening and has a nice, rich flavor!

Strawberry Vanilla Pancakes
This was a delicious recipe, I couldn't get the pancakes off the griddle and cooled fast enough for my family! Changes made: soured the milk with lemon juice, 2 TBS applesauce for the oil, reduced salt to 1/4 tsp, increased brown sugar to 3 TBS and added a dash of cinnamon. I let the batter sit for about 5 minutes and it thickened up nicely.
