About this Cook
I have been married for 13 years and have two sons who are 4 and 2 years old. I love to cook, but my effots have been squelched by two picky toddlers who just don't appreciate all the work I put into it ;-). I'm looking forward to the day they want more than chicken nuggets and mac-n-cheese!
My favorite things to cook
I'm pretty traditional and stick to basic dishes. I love finding new ways to make chicken. I'm not a big fan of casseroles, but I have a few favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a family tradition of making cut-out sugar cookies during the holidays. The entire family, including husbands and kids have to help frost and decorate them. Everyone complains about it, but they really love it and look forward to it! We come up with some pretty interesting cookies!
My cooking triumphs
1. Making a decent pot roast. My mom never made this and I've always loved it at other people's homes. I've made several pot roasts before finally making a decent one. I'm still perfecting it. 2. Flipping the perfect pancake. See my explanation below.
My cooking tragedies
I've had many. Just ask my husband how many times I've made mistakes and cried about them. The first time I tried to make pancakes as a newlywed, I thought I was the worst wife in the world because they turned out to be a disaster.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo
I just finished making this and all I have to say is WOW! It is soooo good! I also decreased the chicken broth to 46 oz. I did not add shrimp. Instead I put in 2lb chicken and 1lb sausage. I think it could have used another lb of chicken. Even still, it is the best gumbo I have ever eaten.

Navy Bean Soup I
I invited family over to share this and I should have made a double batch. We literally licked the pot clean! I used a hambone, added carrots and omitted the tomatoes and celery for personal preference. Other than that, everything was the same. I will definitely make this again!!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken
I've made this twice now and it has become part of my regular rotation. Even my preschoolers like it!
