About this Cook
A stay-at-home mom with 2 kids under 2.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. I like recipes that have beautiful presentation as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom taught me how to make pies by 2nd grade. Our family's pie recipes have won ribbons at fairs in PA and NJ. I used to visit my grandma's in the summer and she taught me how to cook her Pennsylvania Dutch style specialties.
My cooking triumphs
My decorated cakes are my triumphs, I feel. My husband would rather eat something delicious rather than look at it though.
My cooking tragedies
I was making a pie for the county fair. It was my first roll out crust. It was dry and braking apart. It looked terrible. I was crying. I made some slits in the top to make them look like vents and sprinked coarse sugar on top and won 1st place. I guess it turned into a good thing, but I was devastated at the time. I wasn't even going to turn it in.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings
I also baked them on a rack over a pan in a 350º oven for 45 min, spray with Pam and then 375º for 5 or 10 minutes till crispy as suggested by another reviewer. These were fantastic!

Cornbread Salad II
This was edible, but why not just eat the cornbread without the extra calories? Such a weird mixture of flavors. It must be a regional thing. My husband and I are from the Mid-Atlantic and neither one of us liked this.

Roquefort Pear Salad
This salad is fantastic! I just made it for lunch becuase my husband doesn't like pears or avocados. Well, I have eaten half of it myself already. I don't know if there will be any leftovers. The sweet pear is a perfect blend with the creamy avocado, crunchy nuts and tangy vinaigrette.
