Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Made this recipe 2x. The first time not wonderful as I had over cooked them on the 2nd cooking. For the initial baking I only needed 20 mins; when I put them in again, it should have been for 6 mins a side. I made the recipe again the next night and watched them more closely. they turned out great! I separated the dough and put dark chocolate chunks in half. Cranberries and almonds in the other half --- very yum and easy! I gave these as gifts to the extra teachers. 3 biscotti in a holiday bag... they looked really nice.

Gingerbread Biscotti

I am very critical of my own cooking and did not care for these when I first made them. However, I love them now! They have a nice crunch and a great spicy flavor! I should have dipped in white chocolate, but ran out of time - still very lovely! I will make again!

Kraut Bierocks

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Loved this recipe! It reminded me of the bierocks my grandmother use to make. The only change is I used the bread machine sweet dinner roll recipe. Much easier! I will make it again. My husband and all 3 of kids said they like it too (and this never happens)!

Very Yummy! I made these into smaller portions for a coffee morning! Very good and different than all the baked goods.

Artichoke Wonton Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I was looking for a good vegetarian option for finger foods. I followed the recipe exactly as stated. The wontons were crisp, but there was way too much mixture. They were very large bites with too much filling in each. After cooking these I didn't like them enough to serve them, so I scraped out the filling and set aside. Reheated to serve with crackers, much better solution.

Very good, will make again. It was a little meatier than I thought ziti should be, but very good. Great for feeding a big group of kids!

Aunt Lillian's Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
My cake was not a typical cake texture. It looked underdone, but it tasted done. Followed the recipe, but not sure what happened. It was still yummy. I will make this recipe again. I was happy to serve it at a coffee morning, even with unusual texture. I have been searching for a recipe to replace of my favorite crumb cake box mix (Krusteaz). This recipe is close.

Glazed Lemon Bundt Cake

I made exactly like the recipe using lemon extract. definitely a keeper! Made it the day before (minus the glaze) then reheated and added the glaze before the coffee morning. Everyone enjoyed!

Pumpkin Zucchini Bread

Made it exactly as written. I would add more zucchini. It was fun to share this with my English friends who could not image what "courgette bread" tasted like. Several asked for the recipe.

My family loved this recipe. I did add 1/2 lemon juice (but that was a little too much). Will make this again!

Lamb Madras Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
I was a bit intimidated by all the spices, but once you start it is easy to do. I used a left over lamb shoulder roast. could not find dried red peppers, so I tried substituting 1/2t of powder. sauce was slightly sweet with a little warmth. Good recipe, but hasn't replaced my favorite take-away. will try the recipe again.

Vanilla Crepes

very tasty! We made angel food cake, so we have lots of left over yolks. This was the perfect use for them! It was my first attempt at making crepes (although I eaten them all over the world). very pleased with the results. Althougth I do agree with the suggestion sift the flour. I will make again!

Sweet Potato Oranges

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
Made them for Thanksgiving. The adults loved them, but the kids said they were too sweet (I think they were just being picky). They are very sweet, but will make again only with less sugar. Or will serve them as a dessert. Either way this is definately a recipe to try.

Chocolate Angel Food Cake I

Reviewed: May 10, 2006
Great cake! We live in England - they don't sell "cake flour" here. We substituted 3T plain flour for 3T corn starch (called corn flour in the UK). It was just a little more dense, but still very tasty. It was a perfect birthday cake for my birthday. Served with strawberries and homemade whip cream with liquor. very yummy! Will definately make again.

Made a wonderful valentines dinner! Based on other reviews I cut back on the balsamic vinegar. Served it with soft polenta - perfect match! I have set this recipe aside to use with company.
