About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom to an 8 year old boy and a 5 year old boy. I live in Florida and long to move back up north because I can't handle the heat and humidity. I spend just about all of my time with my kids and my husband. We love just about any outdoor activity. We also love to travel and recently started a goal of trying to bring our kids to all 50 states before they are out of high school so that they can experience all that this country has to offer. As far as cooking...I never really cooked prior to the birth of my first son. I love to be able to provide homemade, wholesome meals for my family. I'm not a health-nut, but I try not to feed them processed foods if possible. A once in a while McDonald's treat is perfectly fine! At home, I seldom cook "kid foods." I have always fed my kids what my husband and I have for dinner. I think it worked for us, because now I have two boys who are not picky eaters and are willing try new things.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook elaborate dinners and to entertain guests. My family and I love to go to the local Japanese restaurant where we always order the hibachi steak. Now we love to recreate it at home! I don't have a hibachi grill, so obviously I have to do it a bit different, but it still tastes just as good, if not better. We love Japanese night at home! Other than that, I really like making any kind of Mexican dish.

Healing Cabbage Soup
I love this soup! Besides being delicious, what I really like is how nice it heats you up on cold nights, but isn't heavy like most "winter food." I have made it several times now. First, I made it as-is. Now when I make it, I make two slight changes. I like to add about half of the liquid from the can of tomatoes and add a little bit of sliced carrots. The recipe is still five star as-is. My changes are just for my personal preference. Thanks for a great recipe!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
Comfort food at it's best! Reminded me of a dish you would expect in the "olden days." This was very flavorful. The only thing I changed was that I didn't add the sherry (only because I didn't have any). I added Worcestershire sauce to the beef broth instead of the sherry. I'll probably keep doing it this way because I always have Worcestershire sauce and never have sherry. I served this with hot, buttered egg noodles and green beans. Super easy to make...great weeknight recipe!

Garlic Brussels Sprouts
These are delicious! I made them as is, with one exception. Instead of cutting an X in the core, I cut the sprouts in half. I thought this would help them absorb the chicken broth better. Everyone in the house loved these...even the kids! My six year old even went back for seconds. To me, that makes this an awesome brussels sprouts recipe!
