Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
These are very good and easy. Some tips I learned that may help: keep the dough cold it wont spread as much. Try the back of a wooden spoon and make a well deeper than wide. Mix the jam in a small bowl until its smooth and almost pours into the well. Bake by time, looks can be deceiving. By the time they look cooked their over done. Enjoy!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
Snaps for Esther! We really enjoyed this bread. I halved the recipe and it was perfect. I added fresh ground nutmeg, a bit more cinnamon and allspice. My daughter said it smelled like Fall in the kitchen. I made one plain and one with chocolate chips.I used 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup white. I baked them at 400 degrees for 7 min. and 330 degrees for 50 min. They werent gummy or raw just perfect. Thanks, its a keeper!!!

Santa Fe Style Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
Snaps for Dannon! I really like this recipe. I actually marinated it for a day and a half because we went out to eat the night I was suppose to grill it. It was so juicy and flavorful through the whole piece of chicken. I would so make this again, I liked all the ingredients and the final product, Thanks.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
Snaps for Suzanne! This was wonderful. My daughter is not a fan of chocolate cake so I baked this and it rocks. I didn't have buttermilk so I just used regular milk, it didn't matter. I took the advice of others and made more sauce, 1 1/2 times the recipe which is 1 cup + 2 T sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup + 1 1/2 t water and 1 T vanilla. I used my big pasta fork to make holes. Next time I will find something thicker because the sauce didn't go all the way down and I let it sit in the pan for more than 90 min. Any way you slice it's a very good cake and a keeper!!!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
Snaps for John! A really great combo of meats and tomatoes and cheese. As several viewers noted the salt was a bit much so I didn't add it. I soaked the noodles in hot water for about 20 min. It was a great idea from others to cut back the time. If you try this trick make sure you add salt somewhere or the noodles will be a bit bland. I didn't think of that until after it was assembled. It wasn't anything a salt shaker couldn't handle :) Thanks for a very nice recipe!!!

Orange Chocolate Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Very nice recipe. I added vanilla and did not grate the chocolate, just chopped it. I liked them because they were not overly sweet. I baked them for 15 min. and it made 12 muffins. Thanks, nice recipe.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Snaps for JMOR777! This recipe is wonderful. I decided to make this on a whim and didn't check to see if I had the ingredients I needed. I had the basic sauce just not all the extras. I used red pepper, no onion and less sugar. The best discovery I ever made was using a bag of frozen veggies instead of chopping them. The salad stayed so cold even out side! Great way recipe!!!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Snaps for Suzanne! These are wonderful. The recipe is so versitile any sauce combo will work. I used 4 different sauces that had a small bit in each or no one liked. Put them all together with the rest of ingredients and they were great. I've made these a few times using beef and pork, both were good my kids liked the baby back ribs better. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I'm all for "fall off the bone tender" and juicey meats, however, when the chicken falls apart as I'm trying to take it out of the cooker it's a bit much. The idea was good and definitely add more seasonings maybe cook it a few hours less. I even used a huge oven stuffer roaster about 6 lbs. just didn't work for me, sorry.

Layered Chicken and Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Snaps for debmce4! This was very good, easy and inexpensive. I had bbq chicken left over so I used that. I didn't cook the sour cream because I thought the cream would break and curdle. I placed a scoop on top before serving and everyone loved it...kinda like a big enchilada.

Raspberry Coconut Layer Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
Snaps for Diane! This is so wonderfully sweet and chewy and chocolatly. One of the best bars I've made,it was so easy to make. I did use a high quality semisweet and white chocolate which always helps. Also, it helps to run the knife under hot water after each slice so nothing sticks to it and the rows will be much neater and easier to lift. Great recipe.

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
Snaps for Dolores! This is a good alternative to frying. My family truly enjoyed it. I baked it 10 min per side and then with sauce and cheese. Eggplant can be bitter and needs a lot of flavor (aka fats) to make it taste good. I wouldn't use egg whites or fat free cheese it just doesn't work well. If you normally fry it this is worth the work to avoid massive amounts of oil and it does taste very good.

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
Snaps for Sylvia! This sauce is OMG TDF. I followed the recipe for the sauce not the whole cooking method. I did boil the ribs and then put them on the grill at about 350 degrees for maybe 30 min. Then I began to baste them with the sauce for about 20-30 min. turning them over and adding more sauce. The ribs were melt in your mouth good and the sauce was even better!!!

Unbelievable Chicken

Snaps for Ruthie! This is a wonderful marinade. I followed her recipe and then added honey as another suggested. Simply divine. I vaccuumed it in a food saver cannister for about 5 hrs. It was moist and flavorful, very good.

Fudgy Cream Cheese Tunnel Cake

Reviewed: May 8, 2007
This cake just didn't work for me. It should be baked in a tubepan so the cream cheese sinks to the middle and not on the bottom in a bundt pan when you invert it. The cake was quite dry and not a lot of flavor. It wasn't as WOW as I had hoped it would be.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2007
Snaps for Brian and Sam! I've made this cake several times and its still the best recipe out there. I don't change the recipe I do change the presentation. I make 2 rounds and slice them lengthwise for 4 layers and more cream cheese frosting. Our favorite is cinnamon rolls III (this site) not overly sweet and thick enough for frosting a cake. Thanks for your recipe!!!

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
Snaps for Kim! We loved this recipe. Asparagus can be bitter if not prepared properly which could be why so many don't like it. This was so simple and the flavor was terrific. I didn't add the garlic until the last few minutes so it didn't burn and I used 2 Tbls. of butter with 1 Tbls. olive oil for 1 lb. of asparagus. When the color starts to just fade its done. Great recipe.

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
Snaps for Kat! What a great way to cook barley. I did alter it a bit, I used chicken broth and almonds and red onion. I also used a 1/2 bag of broccoli slaw mix from the produce section and only 3 Tbls. of butter. Even my very picky 15 yr. daughter loved it and that makes it even better!!!
