I learned to cook by hanging out in the kitchen with my mother, my grandmother, and my aunts. The duty of making supper was passed to me when I was in high school, and I've been cooking ever since! (That was a long time ago)
My favorite things to cook
A green salad with mixed lettuces, cukes, red onion, carrots and tomatoes, topped with toasted pecans and fried chicken breast strips coated with garlicky breading ... also fajitas ... and my mother's pound cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I set out a buffet of goodies for Christmas morning, always including hot wings, queso dip with home fried tortilla chips, mint brownies, pound cake, and hot cider punch. We load up our plates then open gifts while we munch.
My cooking triumphs
Originating a recipe for Yakimandu based on a verbal description, and having the finished product pass muster with a Korean guest ... I can also put out a good party spread.
My cooking tragedies
I picked the wrong cannister and dusted a sheet cake with *flour* instead of confectioners sugar. 15 years ago, and I still remember it.
