About this Cook
I'm 32, have 2 small children, work full time and am attending college at night towards a masters degree.
My favorite things to cook
Roasted Garlic and Spinach soup, Baked Red Potato Salad, and anything that I can get my son to eat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies
My cooking triumphs
When my father-in-law or friends ask me to make something that only I cook.
My cooking tragedies
Every once in a while my husband says that I have had made some great dinners so it's time for a "bomb". And for some reason I can't make spaghetti sauce that I like.

Southern Fried Cabbage
I have been cooking cabbage like this for at least 5 years when I got it from a Southern friend of mine. We have it almost every holiday. I just don't add the sugar, never found it necessary. The cabbage carmelizes itself the longer you cook it. I always cook extra bacon because my husband and kids steal it as they walk through the kitchen.

Depression Era Corn Chowder
My family loves this corn chowder. I do make a few changes though. I decrease the amount of chicken broth and add a can of creamed corn as well. This thickens the soup a little more. This is great when you need to extend your meal for unexpected quests. It increases very easily.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I
This is the perfect dessert to make when you are in a pinch for time, ideas and grocery items in your pantry. I've also made it with different fruits. My husband, who is not a sweets eater, loves this "cake". When we go visiting he begs me to bring it. I always receive raves. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN MAKING THIS CAKE. It always comes out great!!
