I'm in my later 20s, I moved from MA to CA 5 yrs ago. I enjoy motorcycle riding, snowboarding, hiking, camping, traveling, heavy metal and classic rock music, concerts, environmental education, and being laid back. I am recently married; we had a beautiful, intimate coastal wedding with our closest family members this past June. We aren't parents so I always cook for two, well, 3 so I can have leftovers for work, and sometimes cooking for a couple is a pain. You have to plan your meals carefully. I'll use a half a pack of ground turkey one night (for say a meatloaf)and then plan something different with the other half the next night (like tacos!).
My favorite things to cook
chicken-oven fried, broiled, grilled, baked, you name it! veggie side dishes, cookies, a variety of foods-Italian, Mexican, Asian, Southern, Moroccan, I'll try to cook just about anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
lots of food at family get-togethers! Varieties of snacks, meats, veggies and other side dishes, desserts-there's something for everyone! there's no excuse if you go hungry at one of our family functions. There's always good food, drinks, people and laughs.
My cooking triumphs
I've made a few things on the fly out of not much and was pleasantly surprised. Soups and stir frys are the easiest to whip together without a recipe or guidance. I love throwing stuff in one pot/pan! Recently while camping, a friend commented that I was a 'gourmet camp cook' because I made teriyaki chicken and rice bowls one day, and lemon pepper chicken with au graten potatoes the next. I just like to eat good!
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too tragic really. Just trying out new recipes that I don't end up liking. I made a vegetarian non-meatloaf once that got a little taste and hit the trash. I decided to use ground-turkey from then on seeing that I'm not vegan, I just don't eat red meat.
