I live with my boyfriend and cooking is one of our favorite pass times. Spending an evening preparing, cooking, EATING and cleaning up after a meal (sometimes this part gets left until the morning)is one of the most enjoyable things for me. Of course this process is only complete when accompanied by a bottle of delicious red wine.
My favorite things to cook
Healthy home cooked meals that don't sacrifice on flavour are my favorite things to prepare. I also love to make desserts and baked goods when I am in the mood to indulge!
My favorite family cooking traditions
All I can think to say here is that my entire family loves food. And anytime there is a get together, it is centered around amazing meals. Food brings people together! If my mother and I are sitting together, we can easily talk about what we are eating for the entire duration of the meal. We disect every flavour that crosses our palate.
My cooking triumphs
I went through a phase of making vegan dishes for awhile. I made a pie that was SO much work. Crushing nuts and mixing it with tahini and other things for the crust..I can't quite remember how it all went...I just remember it actually turned out and I was quite pleased.
My cooking tragedies
When I was a teenager I started out baking muffins and cookies and I distinctly remember confusing measurements. I would toss in a tablespoon of salt instead of a teaspoon. That sort of thing. Oh, and about 2 weeks ago I tried to make caesar salad dressing without a recipe for my boyfriend and I. The first batch went out the sliding door window...But hey, six eggs and a whole lot of olive oil later I did end up with something that resembled caesar dressing.
