Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Disclaimer: We are not big fans of fried food, so my review may be a little schewed! I had a ton of green tomatoes, so I had to use them up. These tomatoes were pretty good, but not our favorite. One change I made was I used flavored breadcrumbs. We might use the recipe again next year, but I'm not sure if we really even like fried green tomatoes.

Asian Chicken Noodle Salad

Excellent recipe! My friend made it for a party, then forwarded the recipe to me. We both made it without the chicken and served it as a side dish. So good!

Very good. I made one loaf of bread and used the rest of the batter for muffins. They are good muffins, too!

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Awesome! Just what I was searching for! A way to use up ripe bananas and include blueberries. Plus, they are healthy but don't taste "healthy." I did leave out the oat bran because I didn't have any. And I left out the nuts because of personal preference. A great recipe!!!

Sausage Applesauce Appetizer

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
This recipe is ok, not great. It just tastes like sausage and onion. The sauce it made is just so, so. It's hard to disciminate between the sugar and the oil from the sausage. Maybe try hotter sausage as another reviewer suggested?

Nanna's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This is a great basic banana bread recipe. I have used nonfat milk (with vinegar added), soy milk and eggnog in place of the buttermilk and they all have turned out great! I freeze my bananas when they are brown, so I can make banana bread when I want. Just thaw them before use. I also add a couple spoonfuls for ground flaxseed, just to sneek it in my kids bellies!

We love this recipe. Perfect for fall. I make it without nuts and prefer it without the raisins. Thanks for the recipe!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
I made this for a crowd and everyone seemed to like it. Most of my guest didn't like spicy food, so I cut way back on the spice. Emeril has a good recipe for Creole Seasoning where you mix spices together, and I used 2 tsp of that instead of the Cajun Seasoning and cayenne. It still had flavor without the heat and super easy for a crowd!

Fresh Strawberry-Oatmeal Cookies

I needed to add some more flour. They were interesting, almost tasted like a breakfast cookie. My daughter is always talking about adding strawberries to cookies, so I thought we would give this recipe a try.

Very tasty and super easy. I subtituted light mayo and light sour cream for the sauce and it was excellent.

Amazing Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I was also concerned about the fat content, so I fried the chicken in cooking spray and used 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup (it's what I had in the cupboard.) I also didn't have frozen oj, so I used the juice of an orange, with some orange slices trown in. We really liked it, the chicken was tender and the sauce was flavorful. Not bad for the first time using my crockpot!

Best Whole Wheat Chocolate Chippers

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
We really liked these. We're not nut fans, so we skipped the pecans. Also, I cut the recipe in half by using the handy scaling tool. Even though they are whole wheat, we didn't need 5 dozen cookies around the house. Especially when they are this good!

Whole Wheat Seed Bread

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
This bread is good. It is nice and moist for an all wheat bread. I had to add a lot more flour when kneading (at least a cup.) The recipe makes a lot of bread, so I would recommend spliting it into more than two pans. I used two pans and split the rest between mini loaf pans. My 2 year old daughter loves the mini loaves. My only change would be to reduce the molasses. Next time I might increase the honey and decrease the molasses because it is a very strong flavor. Overall, a recipe I will use again!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
Very good! I had a huge craving for chocolate and these satisfied it! I replaced 1/2c of white sugar with brown, as several people suggested. I also only baked each batch for 8 minutes. The batches I baked for longer we hard and crumbly the next day, while the 8 min batches stayed soft.

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Good recipe. I doubled the filling as one reviewer suggested, but I did not increase the time (I forgot.) The middle cookies were way too gooey and the outer ones were soft, but still tasted good. So, if you double the filling, be sure to increase the time. Also, I used pecans in the crust because I don't like walnuts and the crust still tasted good. I will try the recipe again paying closer attention to the cooking time.
