About this Cook
I'm newly married, and enjoy my dominion over the kitchen. I have a very easy-to-please husband, who encourages experimentation, but who also reminds me of the budget.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make soup and bread, because they're very healthy, easy, satisfying, but available for endless variation.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love holiday meals, especially the planning, preparation, and expectation of others' enjoyment.
My cooking triumphs
I recently baked a pumpkin pie for the first time, and our guest, whose favorite kind of pie happens to be pumpkin, acknowledged it as the best she'd ever had.
My cooking tragedies
My husband's birthday cake. I tried to give him what he wanted (chocolate, cream cheese frosting)and keep it healthy, and the result was something neither delicious, nor particularly cake-like. He dutifully ate almost the entire pan. I'm a blessed woman.

Spicy Vegan Potato Curry
This is really, really good. The amount of spices seem to be just right, except that I only used 1 t. of salt, and we are salt-lovers.

Vegetarian Bean Curry
This was very good. I only changed the recipe by using brown lentils (what I had), and using 1 T. cumin, because I love it.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos
These were really good. I had to supplement part of the sweet potato with carrot, but it was still good. I think the prepared mustard gave it an odd tang, so perhaps I'll leave that out, but this was a great way to eat healthily and seasonally.
