About this Cook
I love to feed a crowd...Comes from growing up in a large italian family. My family tradition brings into my culinary style a love of food and my tendency to dispise waste. I love knowing people from other cultures and learning how they prepare foods.
My favorite things to cook
chocolate chip cookie bars, chicken and rice, hot wings (like that famous restaurant), roast beef (w/mashpotatoes and gravy), lamb, salmon, fast deserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whatever is in season. I love to learn various regional dishes... Gumbo from new orleans, Italian from my family, green chili from new mexico, fajitas from texas, squash and clam chowder from new england, baklava form greece, tamales from my hispanic friends, french sauces, and kim bop from korea. I love learning new ways to prepare eggs.
My cooking triumphs
Making a better lasagna than my mother (don't tell her, she doesn't know yet:) Discovering spam can be good if prepared right. Helping my husband learn to cook. CROCK POTS. Learning to brew. Being able to use anything. Having my grandmother complement my apple butter. Re-creating her bread and butter pickles.
My cooking tragedies
still can't get my family to eat my vegetarian preparations, or sushi.(they don't like beans or tofu)I need to get better at preparing fin fish. Still haven't gotten down the nuances of baking at altitude.
