One of the items on my list of resolutions this year was to learn to make braciola (pronounced brazhole - I think). Today, I thought I would kick off my shoes and jump right in while I had my nerve and give it a try. If you're like me, you had never heard of this rustic Italian supper dish… MORE

About this Cook
I am the lucky wife of a wonderful man, the mother of four incredible boys and a professional educator. I am also a semi-professional photographer. We live in fly-over country with our black lab, Shadow.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook vintage recipes and collect old cookbooks. I love recipes with a colorful past that can be tied in to my family's history or regional favorites. My children love Mexican and Italian foods so I have been experimenting a little bit.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My children and I bake many, many cookies at Christmas, and they always do make-your-own-pizzas on Christmas Eve. Christmas is always ham, and my boys can request anything they want for dinner on their birthdays, which usually means pizza or wings.
My cooking triumphs
I learned to make chicken parmegiana, my husband's favorite dish, ALMOST as well as his mother!
My cooking tragedies
Any attempt at baking yeast bread has met with disaster. Those little yeast spores just don't like me.

Campbell's Kitchen Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomatoes
Very good flavor, though the sauce turned out a little too thin. If I make it again, I will thicken with a little cornstarch.

Chocolate Mousse
Very simple and rich. My family inhaled it. It is a tad bitter - like dark chocolate and my boys would have preferred more of a milk chocolate taste. Next time I will use milk chocolate chips.

Bananas 'N' Cream Bundt Cake
This was moist and rich like I hoped it would be, but it tasted to me like banana bread, not cake. I was hoping for more of a cake-like texture so it wasn't a favorite for me.
