my name is molly, but for some reason my family has always called me modge podge. i'm a former ballroom/latin dance instructor and bartender, and am now working as a dietitian. i'm also the lucky wife of a very handsome belgian man.
My favorite things to cook
i've always loved preparing desserts, as i have a serious sweet tooth, but in the last couple years, i've really been working on more savory dishes. i tend to seek out the unusual. one of my favorite things to make is my version of the "addictive sweet potato burritos." they make my friends, husband, and i VERY happy. [if you have a recipe you think i'd like, please send it to me! (modgepodge2001@yahoo.com)]
My favorite family cooking traditions
thanksgiving and christmas are always a big ordeal in my family's home. we don't typically stray from the traditional menu my family's enjoyed for generations. the best christmas gift i've ever received was a cook book my mother made titled "family favorites." on the back of every recipe, she wrote a story relating to it. it's something i'll be able to pass on to my children (when i have them).
My cooking triumphs
i'm always searching for interesting vegetarian recipes. through this website, one search led me to an amazing salad: "curried cashew, pear, and grape salad." it is, to say the least, incredible. i like to serve it with "fresh asparagus soup."
My cooking tragedies
i once attempted an entire indian dinner by myself. it took me three hours and was disastrous (except for the naan). i was so disappointed.
