Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This was the best banana pudding recipe I've ever tried. My sister even said it was better than the one her hubby's grandma used to make and that had her #1 seal until now. This is my hubby's favorite dessert and he LOVED it! My only change was adding a couple of fresh very ripe smashed bananas to the mix & then I layered it in a trifle bowl, otherwise followed exactly. Thanks so much for sharing this fabulous pudding.

Shrimp Etouffee II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Wow, this was AWESOME! I did take other's advice and added Cajun Seasoning & Worcestershire Sauce and also cooked it on stove, not micro. Served over jasmine rice and it was outstanding. Will be a favorite shrimp recipe. Thanks for the recipe.

Italian Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
OMG, these were AWESOME! My hubby & 7 year old LOVED them and so did I. Had some left over ricotta & threw these together at last minute. These are forgiving as I didn't have quite enough ricotta so I added a little cream cheese to compensate. Used almond extract in the cookie mix instead of vanilla but used vanilla for glaze/frosting. As others stated, after 10 min they don't look cooked, but they are, just check the bottom. They have a cake-like texture and are simply awesome! Thank you so much for this recipe!

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
My family LOVES this, I did make a couple of tweeks: used rotisserie chicken as someone suggested & chicken stock instead of broth. Also added garlic powder, chili powder, bay leaf, cumin. Put dolloup of sour cream and mexican shredded cheese to serve and have crumbled up nacho chips available for topping (great use for bottom of the bag brocken chips). My son loves this so much this is what he requested for his bday dinner :-).

Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
This was really good, I did change a few things, per other's suggestions. I doubled the rice (and added more water) and used Jasmine rice b/c that's what we had. Used a can of diced tomatoes, added garlic, basil, oregano and shredded cheddar instead of processed cheese. Added some panko w/a couple of squirts of butter spray over the casserole when putting in oven. Baked for 40 minutes then 1& 1/2 minutes on broil to brown top. It was great and my 2 year old niece even loved it as did my the rest of my family.

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
After all the rave reviews we made this for the Super Bowl. My husband & I were excited b/c we both love jalapeno poppers. However, these were nowhere near as yummy as we expected. They were kind of bland & too much sausage. I may try this again and alter the recipe w/more cheese & less sausage. I did take other's suggestions and used gloves and soaked peppers in water while working with them. Thanks for the tip.

Self-Filled Cupcakes I

These were really yummy. I did make extra of the filling as we love cheesecake and put a good amount in the cupcakes - it was a BIG hit!

It was tasty but not crunchy as I expected. Maybe I did something wrong but I'm pretty good at following directions LOL and have been cooking for a long time.

Melted Witch

After reading so many good reviews I tried this recipe for the kids for Halloween. There was a ton of leftovers and no requests for seconds. I'm not a big sports drink fan but the kids love them; however, it looks like they prefer their Gatorade alone and not in the punch. Was dissapointing.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
I liked it, family thought it was ok. I think we were expecting more of a spoon-type corn bread/pudding. Made a lot and I was the only one that ate some leftovers. Will try again and maybe cut recipe in half.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
This was very good and very filling. Great new recipe for leftover Thanksgiving turkey. I took some other's suggestions and sauteed minced garlic and onions in olive oil, then added the butter, flour, broth and milk. I also added a small bag of SWEET peas and used whole grain pasta to incorporate some veggies & more fiber in this yummy casserole!

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
These were ok, very moist but a lot of trouble to make. Kept having to put the dough in the freezer for several minutes so that I could work with it to form, otherwise too mushy. Although I thought they were tasty, not too many enjoyed the slight almond flavor in them or the cherry. Would be worth the trouble if everyone liked them but sadly they did not:-(

Ham Bone Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
This was a tasty, hearty soup. However, it was a little tangy for our taste. Maybe the tomato base. Gave some to my neighbors along w/the recipe and they've made it once or twice since then and love it. May try a little variation next time w/out all the tomato, but still a good recipe when you don't know what to do w/a leftover ham bone.

WOW! This was one of my favorite dishes at a local restaurant when we lived in Atlanta. What a wonderful find, I think it was even better than the restaurant version. Husband LOVED it and coming from a real Southerner that was quite the compliment. THANKS!!!!

Mystery Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
This was suprisingly good. I didn't have enough of the beets on hand so I also added 2 carrots to my pureed beets to equal the amount required. Also folded in some chocolate chips before baking. My kids are chowing down on it every night after dinner. Hubby didn't care for it too much (said it wasn't chocolatey enough) so that's why only 4 stars. He still doesn't know what is really in it, he just thought it needed more chocolate :-).

Made this last evening and it was a BIG hit! Added some Cream of Chicken Soup & cut down on Sour Cream per some suggestions and also used 2 real eggs instead of substitute. Kids didn't care for the mushrooms so I'll leave out next time but this is a KEEPER! Good comfort food, thank you!

Cranberry Martini

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Great recipe! Only change I made is to use 1 jigger of cranberry juice and 1 jigger of homemade cranberry liquor (our friend makes for us each Christmas). So the only difference is my version packs a little more punch, but what a great tasting recipe either way! Thanks!
