Bread Machine Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2009
I had no problems with a flat loaf - s a matter of fact it rose right up to the top of my machine - waiting for it to 'bake' now - smells wonderful. Only thing I added was a "splash" of milk as it was kneading - it appeared a bit sticky without it.

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
I made this over the weekend and it tasted good - but I needed to add another cup of water. The 1 1/8 made a "mealy" looking dough so I added the water and restarted the cycle. Turned out good.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Made these last night - Awesome!!! Only added a bit more salt based on previous comments and put them in my muffin tins. Great rolls especially when the bread machine does most of the work. Weekly baking on my menu now!

Creamed Chipped Beef

I'm getting ready to make it now. I used to love it growing up but we never served it on a "shingle" altho my dad (ex-Navy_ made sure to tell us the SOS story - LOL. My mom served it on mashed potatoes and OMG it is to die for. I don't ever remember her sauteeing the beef before hand but I will follow the recipe.

BLT Iceberg Wedge

OMG - my mom used to make this when I was a kid (some 50 years ago) but she'd use mayo instead of ranch. I make this quite often when I don't know what to make or don't want a heavy meal. Have used ranch for picky kid but always mayo for mine. Thanks for posting and bringing back such wonderful memories.

Easy Baked Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
I've been making ham like this for years. As another poster suggested - Vernors Ginger Ale is best but I think it's a Michigan-based pop. Didn't have it in IL. But if you can find it - it's awesome. Great for reheating leftover ham.....gently simmer in the Vernors - easy ham and great tasting.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

I just got done makeing these - son had friend sleep over and wanted something healthy to go with the mac n cheese (LOL) besides corn. Good but a bit sweet - great way to use up rock hard brown sugar. But sweet is good when it comes to tenagers I guess. Quick and easy too.

Cream Cheese Pickles

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
I don't have patience to spread cream cheese on a damp pickle so I did it in layers----first the tortilla then place the meat on that - then more cream cheese on the meat and then the pickle. Less hassle but same great results - these are a hit for any ocassion.

Spinach Brownies

OK - the name is what prompted me to look - I thought how nasty - but I looked, read and made and these are absolutely FANTASTIC. I alsways looks for 'new' ways to get my kid to eat "yucky" vegetables - although he didn't like them - I did and WILL make again. However, the name should be changed - LOL

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
OK folks - I made the dough last night and a little FYI - if you want to make a loaf - do NOT let it rise for the full hour. It "poofed" wonderfully but sank as soon as I set it on the counter. (I let my bread rise in a preheated & turned off oven) Not one to waste - I baked it (350 for 20 mins) When it came out it was heavenly. Light, airy & just plain good. Another little FYI - do not put a "not quite cooled yet" loaf in a plastic bag & into the fridge. This morning it was quite heavy & dense. Will try again and watch as it rises and maybe separate into 2 pans. But the taste was still as awesome.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
I tried this recipe again tonight - I like the idea of an oven - i can put it in there and forget about it for a few minutes.......I buttered only the edges but this time it came out "soggy" in the middle....perhaps due to adding leftover ham. I did the 6 mins per side twice and the edges were crispy (borderline burnt) but soggy in the center. Son loved them but I prefer the whole slice crisping up. But it's worth the 5 starts for the fix it and forget it aspect. I also used leftover bread machine potato bread - altho good - if slices aren't just right - this can happen...I think.

Potato Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2005
I made these Thursday night & they were awesome. I didn't put in dill since I didn't have any. And thanks to the poster who suggested baking them in muffin cups rather than frying- they were WONDERFUL. I had canned salmon from costco that I used and they turned out fine. Will definately make again.

Banana Split Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2004
I just got done making these. Pretty good but I'd call them mini-cakes rather than cookies...extremely soft. But tasty. Being a nut lover but not mixed with my desserts I processed a jar of marischino cherries & drained them & added them instead of the walnuts. I just wished I had added some chocolate chips as well. Good cookie - will try it again for sure.
