About this Cook
Hey, all! My parents are Canadian, and I'm an only...which means I get to pick my brothers and sisters! (pros and cons to each, eh? ;p) Love visiting Canada and far-away places, as well as cooking up a storm. I LOVE hearing that my cookies or treats made someone's day. My coworkers/guinea pigs always look up to see if I brought a treat tin. :)
My favorite things to cook
Right now, my focus is on sweets because they're portable and people don't spend enough time making them, as who'll eat the whole recipe of whatever?! I enjoy making bread.
My cooking triumphs
Canadian sugar pie! It's AWESOME if done right! I had KILLER pie the last time I was in Quebec, and have been tinkering to find the holy grail recipe....
My cooking tragedies
Ah, isn't everything a double-edged sword?!? Sugar pie, NOT done right! Soupy on the inside, burnt on the outside! But it's still pretty good in a pudding dish....lol

Lazy Golumbkis
Pretty good! Will try the following mods next time to give it more flavor: 1 TBS dried onion, a few shakes each of garlic powder, seasoning salt, and pepper, 3 TBS worcestershire sauce, a 26 oz can of mushroom pasta sauce, 2 TBS brown sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, an 11 oz can of tomato juice, 1 cup uncooked instant rice, and ½ head of cabbage

Yeast Pancakes
Great pancakes! Didn't taste yeasty at all; reminded me of the pancakes at a famous breakfast place in the area. I added cranberries one time, choc chips another time. Def try this recipe.

Fudgy Chocolate Cream Pie
This pie is super! The only modification I made was to add 2 T of strong coffee to the cream to bring out more chocolate flavor. I brought it to a Christmas Eve party; and it was the first to go...a big hit, especially with homemade whipped cream! It is super-fudgy, and not a typical "pudding pie". I was worried that it might not be enough filling for the pie, based on past reviews, but it seemed PLENTY thick enough, especially considering how rich it is...and if you know you're topping it with whipped cream/meringue, obviously you need to leave room/have a good ratio of filling/topping.
