Wonderful!! I followed the recipe exactly & it came out moist with the perfect amount of sweetness. I may add more nuts next time. Thanks!

Homesteader Cornbread

Everyone loved this. I followed the recipe exactly - (only mixing it until combined - not 5 minutes like the old recipe apparently said to do.) It came out light & fluffy. Perfect sweetness. Great recipe!

Belles Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
This was a very easy recipe & the results were wonderful. I had to add a little more flour (maybe about 1/4 c.) We eat homemade bread all the time, so we're used to a denser texture, but these were actually fluffy. Loved 'em!!

Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
This dough was difficult to work with. I followed directions exactly - sifted the flour, worked minimally with the dough - and it was terribly hard to roll out, as it kept falling apart. I ended up having to pat it into the pie pan piecemeal. The taste was okay and it was flaky, but I probably won't make this again.

Jan's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
The BEST chocolate cake I make is with this recipe. I do change it up a bit only to make it healthier -- I use only 1 c. sugar, and sub half the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour -- it's delicious. I don't use frosting and everyone always loves it. Definitely use good quality cocoa -- it will always come out dark and chocolaty if you do.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
I thought i'd try this just to do something different. I followed the recipe ingredients exactly and it turned out edible but strange. From other reviews i knew not to expect a crust that was like regular yeast pizza crust, but this was different in a not so good way. I poured the dough it into a greased cookie sheet, baked it for 10 minutes and flipped it like others advised. It turned out crispy around the edges but rubbery/soggy in the middle. I don't know how you'd put topping on this dough without baking it first - it's almost like pancake batter! Anyway, maybe using one less egg might help? I probably won't try it, though... i'll just use my regular pizza crust recipe - it's not that difficult to make!

Spicy Italian Pork Cutlets

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
This was just okay for us. Followed recipe exactly - sauce didn't thicken up, but it still tasted good. The cutlets were rather bland, though. I'd like to try this again maybe marinating the cutlets first....

These were really good. I used frozen blueberries & brown sugar instead of white in the streusel topping. Mine baked up really quickly, so check before 20 minutes!

Crab Tuna Souffle

I followed the recipe exactly except did only 2 layers instead of 3. It fed my family of 5 with my son having seconds. We all enjoyed it - next time I will add more crab as we could hardly taste it.

Yummy Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I used ground Italian sausage instead of pepperoni and homemade sauce instead of jarred. As other reviewers have said, I think one jar of sauce wouldn't be enough - my homemade version makes the equivalent of 2 jars and I used it all. Beware, though, if you do use extra sauce this will really fill up (to the rim) a 9X13 pan. It may run over... The flavor of the lasagna was great - my kids even liked it cold!

Thighs on Rice

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
Very good - I liberally sprinkled Italian seasoning on each thigh (didn't measure) and I used large thighs so I cooked it for 45 minutes covered then about 20 minutes uncovered. Next time I will brown the chicken thighs in butter first, place on top of rice, and bake covered.

Linguine With Clam Sauce

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
This was REALLY good, but a little soupy. I added 4 cloves of minced garlic, used fresh basil instead of dried, and 1/3 c. olive oil. I think next time I will use 3 cans of clams and drain 2 of them. Thanks for the recipe!!

Delicious Salmon Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
We really enjoyed this - even the kids. I used a little less olive oil than was called for - maybe around 3/4 c., but everything else I did as directed. I will definitely make this again - but next time I'll add some tomatoes and maybe some sliced avocado! Yum!

Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
Weird recipe.... My kids thought it was okay and my husband actually took a bit of the leftovers to eat (in a tortilla) for lunch today, but I certainly will not make this again. It reminded me of dog food. The consistency was way too thick, it was bland brown in color, and all I could taste was the refried beans. Also, I think there must be a mistake in this recipe - 1 TABLEspoon of seasoned salt AND 1/4 teaspoon regular salt?? I just used 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt and it was too salty for our taste. Maybe this recipe could be better if you add more water, use regular beans instead of refried, and use way less salt....

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
This pie was okay, but nothing to write home about. With all the 5-star reviews, I was expecting a really WOW pie. I followed the recipe exactly - used my homemade pie crust and Granny Smith apples. I poured the sugar syrup over the lattice as directed, but when baked, the top crust wasn't anything special. It was fun to try something new, but next time I'll just use my standard apple pie recipe.
