About this Cook
I am a wife of 5 years and stay at home mom to a sweet little boy. Cooking is how I relax and I do it often. There's nothing more that I love than to see my family enjoying a meal I've prepared.
My favorite things to cook
Im a baker at heart: Anything to do with dough or batter: Breads, biscuits, fritters, pancakes, cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, rolls, pizza dough... Ive done them all and over time gotten pretty good at it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever I cook something from youth like my Mom's Olive spaghetti sauce or my Grandmothers Gooey Butter cake, it takes me right back to my childhood and Im so glad that I can share these recipes with my family now.
My cooking triumphs
My Banana Cream Pie recipe won a small pie contest that was hosted by my Mom's group. By my reaction, you would have thought I won the National Pillsbury Bake Off. It made my day! Also, I hosted my first Thanksgiving in 2009. There was a perfect mix of new and traditional. Everything was great. The turkey was wonderful, and then (tragedy to follow...)
My cooking tragedies
The morning after my first Thanksgiving, I was preparing the turkey carcass to make another homemade stock and realized that I had left the "neck" bag in the cavity. Who knew there were 2 bags!?! My husband convinced me that I had poisoned everyone. Thankfully, this was not the case.

North German Gruenkohl (Kale) and Sausage
We enjoyed this. My husband isn't a huge fan of kielbasa, but had seconds of this and said he would eat it again. I served it over boiled red potatoes. Also, did add ham because I didn't have any, but I can see how it would be tasty.

Salisbury Steak
These were really tasty. I only had 1 lb of gb but made the same amount of gravy. My husband said these were just as good as my normal Salisbury steaks, but these were much easier, so I think I have a new recipe!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops
This was fine, but it didn't knock our socks off. Probably won't make again. It was easy, but I agree with other reviewers that there wasn't enough sauce, and I only had 4 chops.
