Simple Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
I used half of a bell pepper and half of a red pepper, also a small jar of pimento and sliced up a cucumber in it. I made my sauce with more mayo, added sour cream and the vegetable packet, a little mustard and definitely needs a little sweetness so a little bit of sugar and of course plenty of salt and pepper. The brand of vegetable mix I used was McCormick, has real nice flavor and the veggies are tiny so you don't notice them in there. Very nice flavor!

Three-Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
DELICIOUS!! I doubled the recipe and made 2 packets. I used a mixed blend of cheese... Mexican Fiesta. Cooking time was a little longer than directions say. Will definitely make these again.. hubby doesn't like parmesean cheese, BUT he didn't even know it was in the recipe! :-) Thank you for a great recipe, it's definitely a KEEPER!

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
I have made this recipe now for several months...I was having trouble with the mixture sugaring after being in the oven for the hour, but I read somewhere's that if you use name brand brown sugar (such as C & H) I wouldn't have that problem... so I tried it and it's been working ever since! So use name brand brown sugar for a much better outcome!

Old-Fashioned Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
did not have parsley so didn't add it and didn't miss it at all. Fried in non stick pan sprayed with Pam, much healthier than oil...very very tasty and will definitely make again! be sure to stir the whole mixture before scooping out to fry.. I noticed my last one was rather peppery as the pepper settled, made it a little hot. Thanks for a great recipe, I used the food processor, did not rinse but drained potato and onlin real well before adding other ingredients. Definitely a keeper and I must say better tasting than Perkins potato pancakes!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
My very first attempt to make blueberry muffins from scratch, I must say they are way better than a mix ever thought of being? I upped the sugar to 1 cup. The topping makes more than needed, I think next time I will double the recipe and leave the topping the same. I got 10 nice big muffins from a single batch. I am making these for a baby shower brunch next week, thank you for posting the perfect recipe! Also remember do not stir it to death, just barely and is good enough, you get a real light fluffy muffin. The crumb topping really makes it perfect! Oh and I baked at 375 for 20 minutes.

Jammin' Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
I used a little olive oil to brown the meat/flour mixture. I also added a pint of tomato juice. Baby carrots worked well, cut them in half, for potatoes I used about 6 good sized peeled and chunked them up. I also only used a scant 1/4 cup of reg grape jelly, I"m glad I didn't put the 1/2 cup as stated in recipe I think would have ruined it making it too sweet for us. I also added 4 big stalks of chopped celery. Delicious stew (actually my first attempt) I will use this recipe from here on in! We had plenty of left over's and ate over rice one last time. Thank you for a great recipe!!

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Wonderful banana chocolate chip bread recipe! I used all butter and added one extra banana just because I didn't want to be left with just one straggler. I baked mine in 3 x 5 pans so I ended up with 7 pans. I only had one that didn't want to come out of the pan. Overall it's a great recipe! Thank you!

Canned Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
I'm not 100% sold on this recipe just yet... I have 7 quarts of pie filling, I will decide if it's a keeper after making a pie. I advise not to pack your jars as tight as I did.... I had trouble with getting the syrup to sink down in amongst the apple slices... We used the food processor to slice, maybe that's where I went wrong... I was probably overfilling them. Anyways I did try.

Frog Eye Salad

Very good salad that feeds ALOT of people. Just recently my husband had a pot luck at his place of employment, we made 2 batches of this salad, costing $23.66 to make.. considering how many people it feeds, I am VERY HAPPY plus the salad is DELICOUS! We have been making this recipe for YEARS, it's a KEEPER! I mix my pasta with the sauce mixture only overnite, then after it's refrigerated for 12 hours + I add my fruit and a 16 oz. container of cool whip. THANKS!

Million Monster Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
My husband made these for his co-workers... decided 1 batch wasn't enough, so made two, and THOUGHT about making 3 batches (thank heavens he ran out of time)....he mixed the dough up the night before and the next night we baked and baked and BAKED from 9:30 pm to 3 AM we were baking cookies, they are DELICIOUS and well worth the effort. We used M & M peanut's but did not add them until right before baking, I pressed about 4 on each one, and then also used non peanut M & M's and put about 6 on top, press them in, this way your M & M's don't melt or candy coating doesn't rub off into the cookie dough. So three huge 19 x 17 cake boxes later, we had alot of fun and I can't wait to hear the responses, as they are DELICIOUS cookies! Thank you for a great recipe!

perfect recipe for a single crust. I didn't even chill it and it still rolled out beautifully. I rolled inbetween waxed paper, worked great. Dusted flattened dough with a little flour, top and bottom, placed waxed paper on top and bottom and worked great! Now I"m going to fill it with my lemmon pie filling... YUMMO! Thanks for a great recipe!

Pasties II

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
We used to have Pasties when visiting my relatives in Upper Michigan, 40 years ago. This recipe I got from a friend in Michigan, they are wonderful! The pie crust is no problem whatsoever rolling out. I divided mine into 12 sections and used 1/2 cup of filling for each pastie circle. My husband thinks I should add a can of cream soup to the recipe for moisture, I might just do that next time. DELICIOUS! I am freezing the leftover pasties and can take them to work. YUMMO!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
This is a great recipe for frosted cut out sugar cookies. I used butter instead of shortening per another reader's advise, I think it was a great idea. It did take a little bit more milk than the recipe states. I added a tiny bit more vanilla too. Frosting tastes wonderful! I made Valentines Hearts and decorated with sprinkles after frosting. YUMMO!

Makeover Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
I dont think you could wreck these if you tried? I used Craisins, the whole bag....other than that followed the recipe pretty much. I followed someone else's idea of using 3 eggs, and I also substituted the carrots for a can of pumpkin, didn't seem to change or alter the taste. Very good. It's definitely a keeper! Thanks!
