Meatloaf with a Ranch Twist

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
The flavor was very good but the texture was blah. It was too soft. I followed the recipe to a T. Sorry, I try to rate recipes fairly and this did not do it for us.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
I upped the coco to 1 c., used 1 c. stong brewed coffee in place of the water and baked it in a 9x13 pan at 350 for 40 mins. I made it into a "Better Than Sex Cake" it was a huge hit at work. I made the recipe again, with the modifications above, into cupcakes baked at 350 for 20 mins and these were my favorite. I iced them with Cream Cheese Frosting II from this site.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
We loved this because it was not too sweet like most icing. I only used 4 tbls softened butter and bumped the vanilla up to 1 tbls. I iced chocolate cupcakes with this. Yuuuummm!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
********This is wondeful!!! I made a 9x13 One Bowl Chocolate Cake III (recipe from this site) instead of using a box mix baked at 350 for 40 mins. After pouring the condensed milk/carmel mix on the cake I left it in the frige over night and then I used the rest of the jar of carmel mixed with 2 tbls milk, warmed it up and spead it all over the top of the cake and topped with the crushed choc bars and whipped topping. This was a huge hit at my office. Will make again!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
I used the recipe as a base and made a few changes to it. I only used 1 c. sugar, I substituted the butter for olive oil and I substituted 2 6 oz. strawberry yogert for the sour cream. I got 22 regular size cupcakes out of the batter and baked at 350 for 21 mins. I topped them off with strawberry cream cheese icing and sprinked them with chopped pecans. 1 - 8 oz. tub of strawberry cream cheese (at room temp) 4 tbls butter (at room temp) 1 - tbls vanilla extract 2 - cups of powdered sugar Combine all ingredients and mix until smooth and creamy.

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
I did as other reviews suggested and let the beef sit for 10 mins after dipping it in starch and then I shook it in a colendar to get the excess starch off. To make the beef extra crispy I dipped it in panko crumbs then fried it. I doubled the sauce but left the sugar and oj the same. It was very good and I will be making this again.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
The first time I made this cake I made exactly as the recipe stated and it was woderful. I made it again yesterday and I forgot to buy the strawberry gelatin but I made it with everything else and I added just a tiny bit more starwberry puree and tasted just like white cake which was very good. This recipe is so versitle. Also, I baked it in a clear glass 9x13 pan at 350 for 45 mins. This is definitely a keeper!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
I have made this several times in the past few years and it turns out great every time. Instead of coffee flavored liquor I brew 1/2 a c. of super stong coffee and it works just fine.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
OMG!!!!!!!! These were so good! I'm 9 months prego and I ate the whole pan in less than 24 hours all by myself. I followed the recipe to a T and the cooking time was really off. I added at least an additional 15 mins of cooking time. They were very soft and moist. Definitely a keeper!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
Wow! These were great! I needed a lot more than the recipe stated so I used 2 chicken breasts, 1 can blk beans, 1 c frozen corn, 1/2 a bell pepper & 1/2 a yellow instead of a red, and I trippled the rest of the ingred. I made 20 rolled in flour torts, brushed with olive oil and baked at 475 for 15 mins. I served it with Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce from this site. This was a hit with all of my guests...Update** I use the filling for enchiladas and top them with this sauce... 1 can cream of chicken, 1/2 a pkt taco seasoning and 1 can of salsa mix together and pour on top.

Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
I made this into a bunt cake for a prettier look. All though it did not taste like a honey bun it was still a very good cake. It tastes more like a coffee cake. I added chopped pecans and extra cinnamon. I cooked it at 325 for 40 mins and at 350 for an additional 10. Turned out great and my guests loved it.

Chicken with Green Peppers in Black Bean Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
I made this exactly as stated and did not like it at all. It was the black bean sauce that I did not care for. My husband ate it and said it was okay but this is something I will not make again.

Quick and Easy Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Finally a veggie soup that has flavor! I used 1 can of low sodium V8 juice, added garlic powder, a few shakes of cayanne pepper, used 1 c. each of frozen corn and green beans and 1/2 of an onion chopped. After cooking I let it sit in the fridge overnight so the flavors would meld together and I brought it for lunch today and it tastes great with a little cheese.

Cheese Sauce Over Cauliflower

This was the first cheese sauce I have ever made and it was very easy. It was good but not great. I think it needs garlic and a little tweaking. Great base recipe.

This is definitely the best banana bread! After pouring the batter in the pan I mixed together 1 tlbs. brown sugar, 1 tlbs. white sugar, 3 tbls. chopped pecans and 3/4 tsp. cinnamon and sprinkled it on top of the batter. It's a MUST! The cooking time was perfect. This is my favorite recipe from this site. Will be making again too soon!

Maria's Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I used sirloin instead of flank steak, 1 yellow bell pepper and 1 green bell pepper. Besides those minor changes I followed the recipe and it turned out great! I serverd it over steamed jasmine rice. I am making this again for dinner tonight. Definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Ronaldo's Beef Carnitas

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I used a 2 1/2 lb. chuck roast. I mixed together all of the seasonings along with 1/2 c. chopped onion, 2 chopped chili peppers. I pressed the mixture into both sides of the meat and wrapped it in foil and baked it at 300 degrees for 2 hours and bumped it up to 350 for 2 1/2 more hours. Turned out very tender but it tasted more like a regular pot roast so after shredding it I added a tbl. chili powder and a tbl. spoon cumin, sprinkle of garlic powder and pepper. Made great tacos.
