Really delicious. I would cut back on the oil slightly. But otherwise, very flavorful, even when reheated.

Chinese Chicken Rice Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
Pretty good- go easy on the salt with "salt & pepper to taste". The soy sauce adds more than you would expect. Very very good side dish for an asian-inspired meal. I marinated overnight and left out the celery and water chestnuts. The taste is there immediately though- still good without marinating.

Danish Pastry Apple Bars II

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
They taste delicious, but a few things to remember: 1. On the bottom layer, make sure you leave a little upward edge with the dough, as you have to connect it with the top layer later. 2. WAY too much liquid for the crust, which completely threw off my recipe. I didn't realize it until too late (alas- should have read the previous reviewer). And I only used about 1/2 of the egg water mixture. I would also 1.5 times the crust ingredients, as I ran out of crust on top. So my presentation was awful due to the crust situation, but if you take 1 & 2 into consideration early on, I bet it would be awesome. It's basically apple pie bars. Sadly, I couldn't taste or sense the corn flakes.

Red Pepper Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
It was ok. I halved the recipe, and used a 1:4 butter/milk substution for the heavy cream, and put in less than called for. It was still very creamy. It is my first time trying red pepper soup, so perhaps it's just my taste buds. Presentation is beautiful, though. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.

Grilled Asian Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
I baked it instead of grilling, so my rating is distorted. Even though I marinaded it for 6 hours, the taste didn't sink in. It was blah and tasteless. Next time I'll broil it, except I won't make it again.

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
Very good. I'm happy to find such a tasty teriyaki recipe. I marinated it about 5 hours, perhaps, and then baked it for about 45 minutes, and broiled it for an additional 15 for some crunch. (I used bone-in chicken thighs). I boild the marinade and poured it over the top for a scrumptious finish.

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
Yum. This was my first test with a bread machine- before I made my bread by hand. It's so easy! I don't have a sweetbread setting, so I used White bread, light crust. The bread is light, fluffy, and with a tinge of sweet essence. Recommended.

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2006
Turned out very delicious. My peaches weren't very ripe, but I was delighted by how well it turned out- I didn't change a thing; by substituting margarine for butter, it can be a kosher dish. 2nd time: Way to watery. Not sure what happened...

Barbecue Beef Cups

These are easy to make, savory snacks that disappeared quickly at the party where I served them. However, they tasted a bit dry- add more sauce, if possible. Additional spices could also help.

Cheesecake Topped Brownies

Ok. I was expecting better considering the prior ratings. I swirled the brownie batter with the cheesecake batter for appearance. The pair just don't mesh well together taste-wise.

Oh wow. This was amazing. Chocolate, peanutbutter, & oatmeal goodness. Easy to make-very little prepwork. I halved the recipe & used a 9x9, and ppl are going to be sad I didn't make the full 9x13. Will make again.

Lemon Whippersnappers

The dough was very sticky- putting it into the fridge is is clutch. The texture is different, but in a good way. I used a sunstar cookie cutter to make them look mini suns- perfect for the yellow color.

Cornmeal Cookies I

I really liked these- very much a balanced mix between cornbread and sugar cookies. Texture and consistency is like a cookie, yet your tongue is trying to place the slight underlying semblence of cornbread. Yum!

Authentic French Meringues

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
They are ok. Make sure to beat the mixture for a long long time in order for the cookies to hold some shape- otherwise you would get flat disks. 2nd time: Don't "piecemeal" pipe the meringues. I wanted to have a nice top so piped a swirl on top of "blobs". The disconnect between the blob and swirls ended up crystallizing - which could be cool if you want a "volcanic meringue" type of look. :)

Pretty good. One and a halved and used chicken thighs. Good stuff. Marinated overnight in the sauce, and skipped the frying. This recipe is quick, easy, and tasty.
