I am a mom to three kids-1 daughter, and boy/girl twins. I'm 35 years old. Cooking is my only true art form--I'm not very creative otherwise.
My favorite things to cook
When time allows, I love to do things (pies, salsa, pesto-anything) totally from scratch with fresh ingredients--especially fresh herbs, fruits, and veggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything southern Louisiana--Gumbo, different ways to do seafood, jambalaya, we do the best holiday meals! I am on the phone constantly with my grandmother, aunts, and cousins finding out how they did this or that.
My cooking triumphs
My very first pie that I made with fresh pumpkin and a homemade crust--my kitchen looked like a cyclone hit it.
My cooking tragedies
My cooking failures include a shrimp stew that turned out thicker and harder to stir than ice cream from Antartica. Just a few weeks ago, I made this beautiful king cake. It took ALL day. It was AWFUL!!
