Raspberry Coconut Layer Bars

This was good, but not great. The combination of chocolate and raspberry is A+, but I think the base could be improved upon. Next time I make this, I will make a lemon or lime pie base by mixing fruit juice in with the sweetened condensed milk so that there are interesting flavors in the base rather than a boring, overwhelming sweetness.

Very yummy. I did not use cabbage or carrots, but used 3 potatoes, 1/2 cup lentils, and 2 chickens breasts.

Vanilla Ice Cream VII

A bit on the eggy side, but this is quite tasty. I don't know if it's because mine boiled in the 10 seconds that I left it unattended, but it was not as creamy as I would have liked - the crystals were a bit large. I will make it again and change my review if it improves without boiling.

SO HERE'S THE DEAL: for years I've been looking for the perfect soft cookie recipe, and it's this recipe plus a fortunate accident! Halve the butter and you will have the loveliest soft cookies you could ever want!

Tomatatoes

A neat idea, and pretty tastey. This is a good basic mashed potato recipe. I suggest pureeing the tomatillos after cooking, as the skins never blend with the rest of the mashed potatoes; you have to pick around them. Also, since I was going for non-traditional potatoes, I added some steak seasoning. Yum!

Red Lentil Curry

Wow, delicious! I had to use the ingredients I had on hand, but it still came out really really well. I used 2 cans of tomato sauce instead of tomato paste, green lentils, and no tumeric since I didn't have any. I think that this recipe is such an amazing base that it can handle LOTS of tweaking!

Taco Seasoning III

A great base: I upped the garlic to 3/4 tsp, the cumin to 2 tsp, and added 1 tsp of seasoning salt and it was SO close to the packets from the store. Delish!

Peppy's Pita Bread

I was pretty impressed! I think that 500 degrees is critical for the pitas to puff up nicely - my oven isn't 100% trusty on the temperature, and I noticed that the last that 2 I baked at a higher temperature puffed more. I'm also going to try tossing in a teensy bit more oil to get a stretchier pita. Great base!

Gooey Butter Cookies

These are very, very yummy. However, they are not especially unique and they're SUPER rich. I think I will experiment with other flavors of cake mix in the future to get the maximum personality out of these cookies.

Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Awesome! I substituted half of the margarine with applesauce and loved it. I used raisins and craisins instead of chocolate chips, and 3 1/2 TB of dark chocolate cocoa powder. A great cookie from which to get your chocolate fix, all while telling yourself it's healthy. ;)

Oaty Cereal Bars

Very easy and very tasty! I can't comment on the bar formation because I always eat it straight out of the bowl! For some reason, these are 4 ingredients I always have when the pantry's empty and I need something sweet.

Cranberry-Pumpkin Cookies

Quite tasty! I added an extra 1/8 cup of sugar because the batter wasn't quite sweet enough. If you don't, I would recommend a light icing; otherwise, the pumpkin taste is a bit too dominant.

Chicken and Cashews

I think this would have been almost inedible if I had not cooked the onions in a cilantro-infused oil. The recipe was not especially impressive, but a good base from which to doctor. Next time I make it, I will cook the chicken in the water/soy sauce/sugar brother to give it some taste and cut the onions much finer. I will also add a clove of garlic. For sugar I used brown sugar, and I will probably carmelize the onions before adding the chicken.

Mall Pretzels

The result was a ho-hum pretzel with a seriously burned bottom. I would love to know what I did wrong, given the high praise from most other reviewers, but I followed the recipe to a T. :(
