Nana's Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
This one was a bit too sweet for me with not much flavor. All I could taste was ketchup, sugar and vinegar. I Turned this into a half recipe of Big Al's K.C. BBQ Sauce.

I swapped the milk for strawberry/kiwi Juicy Juice to give it more flavor and sweetness. The milk just wasn't going to cut it.

Super Scrambled Eggs Number One

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
While I didn't stray from the ingredients (except omitting the milk, never did like milk in my eggs) I did change how I cooked it. I pre-cut the bacon and cooked the onion with the bacon then drained that but reserved a small amount of grease in the pan. I added the eggs, bacon, and onions back to the pan at once, didn't bother mixing in a bowl. Once the eggs were done I added the cheese. I took a tortilla and warmed it on the flame of my gas burner and used the butter on the tortilla. Filled it with the egg mixture. Yum!

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
I admit I was a bit skeptical before I made these cookies. That all changed after I tried one of these little bits of heaven. They are so chocolately (used B.C. chocolate fudge) and chewy with a brownie-like texture. You can't even tell these were semi-homemade and every bit as good as homemade. I can't wait to experiment with other flavors like butter cake mix with pecans.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
I did not care for this, way too many onion flakes. My husband, however, ate it but he said he was hungry. Wanted to try something different then just salt and pepper and Miracle Whip but should've just stuck with the usual.

Very good cookies! Mine turned out a bit flat but still nice and chewy. I swapped the margarine for butter.

These were good, a bit too much worcestershire sauce. I pan fried these babies but they didn't completely hold together as well as I hoped. I use 93% lean ground beef.

Good stuff! I used extra bacon and one less potato. Definitely cut back on the salt, 2 t was too much especially since bacon is already salty.

Freezer Caramel Drizzle Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
Good but it's so super sweet. It was kind of a pain to drizzle the caramel evenly, I think next time I'll just mix it right in to the Cool Whip mixture. I'll also use a sugarless graham crust and maybe a lighter Cool Whip or condensed milk. Good pie though, just really sweet. I let the pie sit at room temp. for 1/2 hour before slicing.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
This was good, husband really liked it. I sauted my vegatables in equal parts butter and olive oil to give it more flavor. I guess I'm not a big oregano fan (unless it's in a red sauce) and will omit it next time I make this. I didn't really see a point of baking it either except to melt the cheese on top. I'll omit both steps next time too.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Instead of coating the chicken in cornstarch and soy sauce I mixed all that in with the broth. I chose to use Chinese 5 Spice since I had it and don't have anything to use it for besides dishes like these, it does contain ginger and garlic powder. If serving over rice double the sauce.

Play Dough Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
These are so cute! I really thought I was playing with Play Dough. I really recommend using the paste that the recipe calls for so you get the deep color without using a ton of food coloring. After I halved each color I halved them again and pre-rolled the first 6 balls of each color so I could ensure I'd have enough of each color for each cookie. I, at first, tried to the first 12 but they started to dry out. Once I got my rope formed I started forming the inside coil. After three loops I took the tail end of the rope and wrapped it around the coil. I found a bag of 100 6" sticks at Michaels and 100 baggies with ties that fit perfectly on the cookie. They also have a ton of different individual colored pastes to choose from. I will definitely be making these again!
