Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
As written I give this 4 stars. I added a can of black beans since it just seemed to be missing something and I also doubled up of the cumin and chili powder. With those changes I give it 5 stars.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Mmmmm...I love pumpkin bars! I greased and floured my pan and chose a different frosting recipe, I like more cream cheese and more sugar. I wish I would've added some vanilla to the batter though.

Snow Grapes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
What a tasty dressing for grapes! It reminds me a lot of the cream cheese/fluff fruit dip. I used reduced fat cream cheese and sour cream and I doubt you could tell a difference.

Cheeseburger Soup I

This is pretty good, added some salt and pepper. I'm curious how it would taste with a beef broth instead of chicken.

Pizzadillas

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
My almost-three-year-old-very-picky-eater loves quesadillas so of course I had to give this a try, it has more than cheese and carbs! She's sitting at the table eating it up so that alone makes this a 5 star recipe (I enjoyed this too!). I only had flour wraps and used leftover pizza sauce.

Leslie's Salty Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
This is the first time I ate the skin off a grilled baked potato. It was so yummy! I didn't need to add any extra salt (don't think I added quite as much as the recipe calls for) and almost no more butter. I poked the potatoes before wrapping to avoid the butter running out. Served with the Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter recipe from this site.

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Butter, garlic, steak? Could it get any better? This was soooo good, why haven't I heard of this before? I heated the butter with the garlic to the point of boiling and removed from heat and let it sit there while the steaks cooked. The flavors melded perfectly and the garlic wasn't raw. I don't think I'll be able to make a steak any other way now.

Peanut Butter Chews

I was looking for something easy to make to curb my sweet craving and this fit the bill. I added sprinkles just because I love sprinkles!

Peanut Butter Chews

Pretty tasty but I then decided to go a step further using the other Peanut Butter Chews recipe and added a melted mix of chocolate and butterscotch chips on top.

New England Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
Good soup, would probably give it 4.5 stars. I don't think I'm a big fan of Thyme and will probably change up the spices next time I make this. I didn't read the directions all the way and ended up mixing all the milk with the flour (but slowly) and it made no difference in the outcome of the soup. I agree that carrots would be a nice addition for extra color and nutrition but I like to stick to the recipe as much as possible the first time I make it to give a fair review.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I messed these up. I read an artical posted in the artical section of substitutes to use instead of the egg wash. The recommended basting them with either butter or milk. I chose milk and they deflated before I got them in the oven. They were still tasty.

Oh, my! This is so good! Quite possibly the BEST vegatable soup I've ever had. All did different was add some ground pepper. Served this with French Bread Rolls To Die For from this site.

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Great cookies! Despite everyone's recommendation to use 1/2 butter I used all shortening like the recipe calls for. My only change was to add in some butter flavoring (just cuz I had it). I mixed all the candy in instead of reserving some for the tops. I had to bake mine for 13 minutes.

Valentino's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I baked this pizza on a stone and the end result reminded me of a thick stale cracker. For the leftover pizza I heated it on the stovetop in a covered skillet on low and the crust browned nicely on the bottom and got crispy. Who would've thought reheated pizza could ever be better then fresh out of the oven?

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
Yummy! I had to use more Bisquick than the recipe called for. I referred to the measurements listed on the box for dumplings. Next time I'll use broth instead of the milk so they have more flavor. I only cooked the dumplings for 12 minutes, covered, and they were all perfectly done. I'll also not sautee as long since the potatoes did most of its cooking in the broth. Oh, I used 5 strips of bacon instead of 3.

Mexican Cookie Rings

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
These are pretty good cookies, not too sweet so it's easy to eat more than you should. My rings didn't turn out to pretty, but got better as I went. I used the end of a wooden spoon to start my ring so they'd be even then finished it off using my thumb. I dipped them in Rainbow Jimmies.

Coconut Poke Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
I've had mixed feeling on this cake through the whole process; white cake mix? A lot of liquid? But the end result is perfect! The cream mixture thickened up after sitting in the fridge but my only complaint is it didn't completely soak in the cake, it pooled around the sides. The cake wasn't soggy like I thought it would be like Tres Leche. IMO, 12 oz. of Cool Whip is plenty. I can't honestly say how much coconut we used since I just topped in on individual slices since I didn't want to waste the coconut if we didn't like the cake. Will probably make again.

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
This cake was good but nothing real extraordinary. I felt it could've used 2 cups of chocolate chips instead of one. I cut back on the oil by 1/4 C, even the box says to add 1/2 C and I didn't think the few extra ingredients would warrant adding a whole nother (is that a word?) 1/2 C. of oil.

Good cookies but a bit on the dry side, kind of a soft/crumbly texture. I doubt any will go to waste but I'll keep looking for one that suits us.
