Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
This one wasn't for us. I'm all for jarred sauce, we eat it quite often but when baked like this (22 minutes) it just got very dry, I even used a 25 oz. jar of sauce instead of the 16 oz. The noodles even seemed more cooked than what I started with. I'll stick with the regular way.

Brian's Favorite Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
This is great sauce! I doubled the meat (1 lb. Italian sausage and 1 lb. ground beef, browned in a separate pan and drained) and added a bay leaf. I simmered it for about 4 hours to cook out some of the water to make it thicker. I found it a bit salty and will halve the amount next time.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Oh my, these are so good! Chewy and chocolately. I added some vanilla and it seemed I had to bake them for longer than stated.

Angel Food Candy

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Perfect! I love this stuff, it's one of my favorite Christmas-type candies and now I can make it myself! I could not break it by hand, the pieces ended up being REALLY irregular (and really messy)so instead I used a steak knife to stab it, breaking of normal size pieces. I chose to use semi-sweet chips (melted with shortening) instead of the confectioners coating. I dipped half, planned on dipping the other half but the first half took too long to dry, warm kitchen I guess. I'll definitely make this again!

Cookie Press Shortbread

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Melt-in-your-mouth good! Very fragile though. I packed them in little baggies, dropped one, and it all but disintegrated. Well, let's hope they make them half way around the world because I included them in my husbands care package.

Betty's Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
Yummy! I used unsalted butter. I halved the recipe and it didn't seem like it required that long of a baking time, I think I let them go for about 35-40 minutes.

Sunny Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
I liked the sauce better than I liked the pancakes, the pancakes seemed a bit rubbery, maybe because of the sugar and the sugar in the OJ. Next time I might try this with Bisquick and a 1/2 recipe of the sauce. There was way too much for the amount of pancakes that this reciped made.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
These are dangerously good! I did what the top reviewer suggested and blotted the prezels with paper towel before laying them on a greased (not parchment lined) pan. I used Pace's Nacho Cheese for dipping, wish I could find regular cheddar cheese sauce though. I may never buy a mall pretzel again!

Strawnana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
This one seemed to have too many dominant flavors and not enough background flavor and just didn't seem to go. Maybe with some brown sugar and butter and omitting the zest would be better.

Creamy Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
This was good hot chocolate. Chocolatey and not over sweet. It does get kind of sludgy and needs to be remixed before each serving.

These were just ok for me. I added some chocolate Jimmies just because I like sprinkle but I recommend adding them after they freeze.

Biscotti

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I'm not quite sure how to rate this one, this was my first time making and trying biscotti. It was good, probably would be better with a cup of coffee or tea but I don't drink either of those. I sent them to my husband (in Afghanistan) and didn't get much feedback from his guys (he didn't care for them.) Tip: I shaped the dough right on the pan with oiled hands.

Oaty Cereal Bars

A great on-the-go cereal bar, not a dessert bar. I used multi-grain Cheerios and added a bit extra, there seemed to be too much coating.

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I've never had Carbonara before so I don't have anything to compare this recipe to. I know that the eggs aren't suppose to scramble but some of mine did, my pan was too hot even though I removed it from the heat. It was still pretty good though.

I'd make this again. Something was off though, maybe my fresh parsley was going south? Would be good with a bit of garlic powder/salt added.
