About this Cook
I am a very happily married stay at home mother of a baby daughter. I love to cook and am always in the kitchen trying new recipes and whipping up meals and desserts for my family. My husband and I pride ourselves on the fact that we eat at home every night. It's a rare occurence that we eat out and we wouldn't have it any other way. I like having control of what goes in my food and knowing where it came from. I would love to attend culinary school but for now I am content to hone my craft here at home. I especially love hosting parties and any opportunity I have to cook for others.
My favorite things to cook
Pastas, Meats, and Desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always love getting together in the kitchen with my mother and sister during the holidays. It's crazy, loud, hot, and we're all trying to do three (or more) things at once, but it's so much fun. I am also looking forward to my daughter and I creating our own cooking tradtitions. Hopefully she'll like to cook! :)
My cooking triumphs
My first ever was probably sweet potato pie when I was a teenager. I took my Aunt's recipe and added a little of this and a little of that and it turned out really well. It's still requested at family gatherings.
My cooking tragedies
I made a jambalaya when I was pregnant and I don't know if it was hormones or what but I made it so incredibly spicy that my husband couldn't eat it. No amount of sour cream or cheese could help so we threw it out. He still likes to remind me of this blunder from time to time by saying "Everything you make is great, besides spicy jambalaya."

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna
This was very good and relatively easy to make. Everyone loved it. The only change I made was to mix the spinach and the ricotta before assembling. The sauce recipe does make alot. It was very good but I might cut back on the sauce just a little next time, just my preference.

Valentino's Pizza Crust
This was ok. To me, the taste was kind of off and the pizza didn't seem to get done all the way in the center. I would recommend pre-baking thecrust for a few minutes before adding your toppings or better yet use rapid rise yeat in place of the regular kind.

Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake
This was wonderful. Not too sweet and I love the addition of the chocolate chips.
