About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom to my 4 year old daughter. I love to find new, healthy, easy dinners for myself and my husband. Someday when my daughter is in kindergarten, I am going to culinary school. I don't know exactly what I'd like to do in the food industry, I just know I love food and cooking and nutrition.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken breast, beans, cookies, pound cake, Bundt cake, cheesecake, pasta, desserts, vegetarian, sandwiches, casseroles, one dish dinners, Key Lime Pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's house always included lots of pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, cheesecake and different cookies. My mom taught us candy making, as she has owned a candy making supplies business since 1981, she taught us about melting & tempering chocolate, dipping, and making candies, including hard candy. Whenever I am lucky enough to visit my family in California, we always have a big barbecue at my parents' house and it always includes my mom's awesome guacamole, Cheddar Wurst sliced into bites, and plentiful drinks. I also always try to bake something with my little sister, she loves to bake too.
My cooking triumphs
Making my own homemade baby food for my daughter, made Snickerdoodles and Pumpkin Cheesecake in 2006 for the first time and they both ended up excellent and looked great, too. Making cheesecake without a big crack down the middle. Also anything that is a success at dinnertime for my family.
My cooking tragedies
My first pork loin was terrible...I cooked it three times as long as it needed to be cooked...needless to say I haven't done that again! Overcooking my first pumpkin bread so that it was burnt on the outside and not cooked in the middle. We just ate the cooked parts and avoided the crust!

Whipped Cream
I made this last night and topped Banana Cream Pie I from this website with it. Delicious as is, and I didn't use a chilled bowl or chilled beaters.

Banana Cream Pie I
I made this recipe as is, using my mother in law's pie crust recipe. It was my first time making pie crust from scratch, and my first time making banana cream pie. It came out beautifully, and it tasted just right. I baked this for about 13 minutes, and topped it with fresh whipped cream with a touch of vanilla. Excellent!!!

Apple Crisp II
I cut this recipe in half, used 4 Granny Smith apples in an 8x8 glass pan. I also used the normal amount of topping that you would use if you were making the whole recipe. This was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend it as a delicious fall treat.
