About this Cook
I make almost everything from scratch from chowder to hummus to salsas...with this trying economy I find it much more economical to keep a well stacked pantry..from diced tomato, garbanzo beans, pastas, etc. If I had the kitchen space I would make my own pastas....
My favorite things to cook
Stews, crock-pot items, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oh it has to be Kropkakkor (a family Swedish dumpling filled with salt pork and ham and boiled then fried in a butter milk sauce) It's a little difficult to make but oh SO good!
My cooking triumphs
See above
My cooking tragedies
melted a pie crust once during Thanksiving, but my sister took the cake by cooking a turkey with the neck and giblets still in it!!!

Seven Layer Taco Dip
In Maine this is known as the "Walking Taco." Always a hit..

Easy and Elegant Pork Tenderloin
This was only my second pork tendeloin ever. It was very yummy and juicy, but I only had regular bread crumbs, so I added some italian seasoning. My only complaint is that it needed just a little more flavor (we are garlic people)so next time I think I will add some fresh chopped garlic to the mixture. I made it in my toaster oven/broiler and shut it off after 25 minutes. It kept cooking and was perfectly done and juicy because of the bread crumbs.

Chicken Marsala
UNREAL. We eat this all the time with a cheap bottle of marsala from a local Italian bakery. I always double the sauce and the mushrooms and add scallions and a touch of heavy cream. It is SO much better than restaurant recipes. Make sure to pound the chicken well (I use one of my five pound hand weights, lol!)
