About this Cook
I'm a very busy medical student but a good meal at the end of the day is always a priority. Living in New Orleans, Paris and London in college taught me a lot about food and wine - and good Indian food!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make risotto wheter it's an italian style dish or paella. However much time it takes, it's worth every last bite! I also love making comfort foods like lasagne or chicken noodle soup. Living in France made me fall in love with cheese and good bread - one of my favorite recipes is a chevre chaud salad - breaded and grilled goat cheese - life doesn't get much better than that! Another thing France taught me to love - crepes. I strongly recommend them with strawberries, Nutella and whipped cream - heaven! I also lived in New Orleans so anything with a lot of cajun spice and seafood gets me going, too. I especially love making pecan encrusted, well, anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
On the Jewish holidays, my Grandma makes incredible food - Matzo Ball Soup, Brisket, Chopped Liver, Challah. I love it!
My cooking triumphs
Last Thanksgiving, I prepared a feast with a couple of girlfriends in Paris for about 25 Americans and a couple of French. It sounds like a reasonable venture for three experienced cooks, but finding a turkey in Paris wasn't easy (or affordable) and the kitchen was about the size of a closet! The turkey alone cost over $100 and it didn't fit in the oven! We had to push the door closed, in the process putting a hole in the foil roasting pan, leaking juices all over the oven! We also managed to find sweet potatoes, marshmallows and cranberry sauce en France. What a Thanksgiving!
My cooking tragedies
Somehow or another, I managed to ignite Nutella while living in France. I love the chocolate-hazelnut mixture a little warm, but flames inside the microwave wasn't the effect I was looking for while hosting a dinner party!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup
Amazing! It's my boyfriend's new favorite. Hearty and comfort food at it's best. It's one of the easiest things I make to boot! Definitely try it. Love the barley, too. Hearty, a bit of a change from the usual routine with pasta, rice, etc. and lots of heart healthy fiber. Seriously...yum!

Spicy Tomato Bisque with Grilled Brie Toast
Who knew this could be so easy? I'm making a point to keep all the ingredients on hand so I can make a quick fall meal. A+
