About this Cook
I love to cook! I tend to bake when I get bored at home and love to try new recipes. I'm always looking for top rated recipes and am trying to start my own family cook book with my familys best recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I tend to make alot of cookies, bars and breads. I also love trying new ideas for dinners, we get sick of the same stuff all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know that we have alot of traditions in my family, I do learn alot of cooking from my dad and I'd have to say I've outcooked his chili, spagetti and split pea soup.
My cooking triumphs
I've made baked alaska and fried ice cream. I don't know that you'd call it a triumph but I think being able to keep ice cream frozen while baking/frying it is quite a skill.
My cooking tragedies
The second time I used yeast I learned that I killed it after 3 hrs of baking puula. I then learned how to "proof" it and haven't messed up since.

Carrot Cake III
I made this and though it was extremly easy I should have followed the other reviewers tips and used applesauce, but I had none on hand so I used all the oil as called for. You can literally taste the oil in the cake, it's very dissapointing. Also wheres the raisins in all these recipes? carrot cake is better with raisins!!

Southwest-Style Egg Rolls
If I could eat these everyday I would. I serve them with homemade buttermilk ranch. Best.Things.Ever!!

Crab and Swiss Quiche
I made this quiche and a spinache w/canadian bacon. The spinache one was amazing while the crab one wasn't that great, although the next day while eating leftovers the crab one was wayyy better. Not sure why but if I make the crab again I will let it sit in the fridge over night and just re-heat it the next day. The only thing I did different was to add onion, salt, pepper and I did some swiss and some cheddar cheeses.
