Me and My Hubby
About this Cook
I was born and raised a Hoosier, but God lead us to a wonderfully beautiful life in the Ozarks. My husband and teenage boys are my cooking guinea pigs, but they are willing and ready subjects to my experimentation (cue the evil laugh). Our activities center around our boys and church. We have a very blessed life!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort foods, but I am always ready to try something different. When cooking for others I am amazed how excited people are to see some basic homemade foods like my grandma taught me to make. I love to cook for people!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy making my Grandma Fisher's recipes. She collected recipes from family, her jazz club and many friends. She worked many years in the L.S. Ayres department store in Indianapolis. The recipes from the Ayres Tearoom have been family favorites. I have also been very fortunate to be surrounded by the best cooks in the world. The ladies of the Ozarks have taught me to make everything from fried apples, pie crust to "slickers" (flat dumplings).
My cooking triumphs
Filling up hungry teenage boys...a never-ending process.
My cooking tragedies
Chicken paprikash. Almost ruined a 2 month old marriage.

Jalapeno Popper Spread
I did add the breadcrumbs (panko) before baking. Added a little something. It is always popular wherever I take this little bit of hot heaven.

Fresh Salsa
Pretty good. I added cilantro and blended the ingredients just because we like it thin, not chunky. I am going to try the recommendations of ARMYWIFE99 next time and add the lime juice. But it overall we really enjoyed it.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
A big hit at the church pitch-in. I didn't change a thing and it was sensational.
