Basic Beef Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
Very good pizza. I used some McCormick hamburger grill seasoning and some dried minced onion when I cooked the meat, so I left out the salt and added celery seed instead of celery salt. I already had pizza dough made so I used that and made pizza sauce III. This pizza was quite good and we enjoyed it. I did add a little shredded American/Cheddar Jack blend cheese too so it would be more like a cheeseburger.

Jill's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
These are great. Very tangy with some zip and a little spice. I scaled this down to 1 lb. of beef and used dried minced onion (1 small handful, about 2 T) and half cumin powder half cumin seeds and tossed a pinch of celery seed in too. I let this simmer for an hour since it was for hubby's lunch and that's how much time I had. This was a really great sandwich. I served this on toasted buns. We liked this and would definitely fix this again although it didn't make our favorites, it's still a winner.

Wonderful Raspberry Walnut Dinner Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
Wonderful salad. I don't like tomatoes so I changed it up with strawberries instead. I liked all the different textures in this salad. I used a home made raspberry dressing. Thanks for the great recipe, this salad is so delish!

Berry Yogurt Crunch

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
This was a great breakfast. I cut up the fruits and let them sit overnight in the sugar as I was taking this to work for my breakfast and assembling it there. I didn't crush any of the fruit. I used Trix triple cherry yogurt and left out the pudding, but I stirred in a little Cool Whip in it's place. I used granola cereal instead of grape nuts. The blackberries were a little bitter and I didn't care much for seeds that were left in my teeth, other than that this was a terrific meal. This would make a great dessert as well by adding some mini marshmallows.

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This was good. I added taco seasoning to the meat when I cooked it and then mixed some taco seasoning in with the sour cream. I mixed some of the salsa with the beans and some with the guacamole. I didn't follow the order given though as we have our own way by starting with beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and then the rest. I didn't have green onion so I used dried chives and no tomato so I put salsa on top instead. We turned this into a meal instead of just a "dip". I've never put meat in before and I didn't much care for the cold meat, but my family loved it.

5-Minute Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This was good. I used minced garlic instead and just used a fork to mash the avocado and mix this together. I forgot to add the salt, but no one noticed. This was good, but not our favorite recipe. It is a really easy one to remember though.

Deviled Eggs I

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
These were really creamy. This is a good basic recipe for deviled eggs. this seemed to be missing something though and it had no tang, no zip, no bite, just creamy creamy egg. Maybe a prepared mustard instead of powder would fix that? Overall, pretty good, but a bit bland for my personal preferences.

Herbed Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
These didn't have much flavor at all. I couldn't really tell any herbs were there. My husband who is super picky about his veggies (he likes everything plain) didn't say a word and he had a large portion. So that confirms they are fairly bland and taste pretty much like plain green beans. I just wasn't impressed. They weren't bad, they just weren't ...

Ultra Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Very good potatoes. Really creamy and rich. I used heavy (whipping) cream. Other than half and half, I'm not sure what light cream even is. We enjoyed these.

Festive Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
Wonderful sweet tangy dessert salad. This was really juicy and had great tropical flavor. I didn't have oranges so I added some dried orange rind to the yogurt (strawberry is all I had so I didn't strain it) and cut up regular sized marshmallows as I didn't have mini ones. I forgot to toast the coconut. I loved this!

Almond Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I was so disappointed in this recipe. I didn't like the dressing at all. Maybe using a balsamic vinegar would have been better? This just wasn't very good. I couldn't even eat this one after several bites. Sorry, I tried.

Cheesy Herbed Eggs

Awesome eggs! These are the lightest fluffiest eggs I've ever had. Fantastic flavor too with the herbs. I didn't know I really liked eggs that well until I ate these. WOW, these are great! You can't even taste the lemon peel either, but I wouldn't leave it out. Thanks these are the BEST!

Berry Batch Parfait

Excellent light breakfast. I used simply fruit spread instead, honey bunches of oats vanilla granola cereal, and a mix of sliced strawberries and blueberries. A little dollop of Cool Whip was all I needed to add at the end to make this perfect. Thanks!

Raspberry Vinaigrette

This was tangy and sharp. I used this on a blueberry spinach walnut feta salad and it was the perfect dressing with it. Not sweet. Maybe next time I'll cut the oil in half.

Texas Hickory BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This turned out great. I used boneless chicken breasts and the grillmaster/husbandchef cooked these over the coals for 5 min each side then placed them in foil boats and spooned sauce on and cooked them another 5 minutes. He didn't soak the wood chips in the beer muttering something about "alcohol abuse" and chose to baste his innards instead with the ice cold beers. We used a store brand hickory sauce and this turned out great. There were no leftovers.

Ultimate French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This was okay. The egg batter was very thick though and the bread didn't really get moist in the middles. I had more than enough batter and could have gotten by with half the amount. It turned out fine, but wasn't my favorite.

Breakfast Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Nice blend of flavors and textures. I added some dried orange rind to the yogurt since I was out of orange juice. This could be varied to include or exclude any number of fruits. This combo was not my favorite but it was okay. I prefer canteloupe with spice like pepper or chile. This made a nice light breakfast.
