Fudge Brownies I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
These are very moist and fudgy. This made a large pan full which is a plus when you end up with brownies as good as these! Thanks for the great recipe k. anderson!

Pork Tenderloin with Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
My family really liked this dish a lot! I doubled it to use up two tenderloins and cooked them with a hefty tsp or so of minced garlic. I used 3 packages of gravy so there would be plenty. This was perfect over rice. I'll definitely keep this quick and easy dish on file for future use. This reheated very well the next day too and was just as good if not better then. Thanks for sharing this Marilyn!

Carne Guisada I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
This turned out good but too tomatoey for my tastes. I thought it was bland but my husband and the guys at his work loved it. I used diced jalapeno from a jar (2 spoons full) and simmered this for about 4 hours. I doubled the comino because I wasn't paying attention, but it turned out fine. Not my favorite recipe for Carne Guisada, but it was okay. Thanks.

Peach Cobbler IV

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
This was okay but the peaches were bland and needed some cinnamon and vanilla or something to give it some boost. I spooned the peaches over the batter, but this came out really dry so maybe I was supposed to use the juice from the can too? It was more like peach cake than what I would call cobbler. I was expecting some syrupy juice beneath the crust. Not my style, but not bad for a quick easy recipe.

New England Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
This had the best flavor. Mmmmmmm, so delicious. It wasn't as creamy as I expected, but was very good and hard to stop eating. The flour was a bit much though and it turned very thick so I thinned it with some more milk. My husband requested I use bacon next time instead of ham. Excellent recipe overall.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
This was delish! I used freeze dried chives instead of onion and ginger paste. I forgot the water. The sauce turned out very creamy and with a nice blend of all flavors and a warmth from the red pepper. It really needed more kick though and next time I'll increase the ginger and the red pepper in this dish. Very good, Thanks Maureen!

Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This was okay. It was too dry though with only 1 can of soup and it didn't call for diluting it, but I HAD to add about 2/3 a can of beef consomme to have anything to simmer. The flavor was fine though when it was done., but a little bland for my personal tastes. The family gobbled this right up. I used minced garlic in the jar instead of powder so I used less.

Simple Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
Meh... this was okay but I wouldn't eat it again. I didn't care much for the soy flavor, it didn't blend in well and gave it an odd taste for a Sloppy Joe. Fast and easy but not my style. Thanks anyway.

Fried Potatoes

I used raw potatoes and onion and cooked them together from the start. This took about 20 min to get done but next time I think I will used precooked potatoes to save time.

Texas Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
These were so good they didn't even need the sauce. I served it on the side, but everyone prefered them plain. I did cut the salt in half. Hubby remarked that next time I can increase the cayenne pepper as it needed a little more heat and kick. We didn't use the oven just left them on the grill in the foil and let them cook slowly (the time was the same as the oven called for) until they fell apart. Delicious!!!

Creamy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Super simple and the family loved this dish. I didn't care for the mustard taste, but no one commented so it must have just been me since I knew it was there. This wasn't the best ground beef stroganoff recipe I've used from here but was good enough and I'd make this again. Thanks for a great meal!

Easy Creamy Peppercorn Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Simple. Easy. Family loved this. My hubby compared this to chicken and rice as far as taste. It did seem very similar. I only had 1 can of soup and it turned out fine. I thought it was a bit bland, but my family devoured this dish.

David's Mesquite Smoked Texas Brisket

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
This turned out a great smoked brisket. My husband didn't use charcoal too, he just used mesquite wood and we smoked it for 2 hrs and then into the oven for another hour. I only had a 3.5 lb brisket so we cut the time in the oven down, because I was afraid of getting a dried up piece of beef jerky, instead it turned out very juicy and moist and was only a little tough still. It would have been fine I think if I had left it in the oven the entire time indicated even though it was half the size. Thanks for a great brisket! I used minced garlic instead of cloves since it is what I had. It worked fine.

Ground Beef 'n' Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
This was a nice all in one meal. I served this with a tossed green salad. I used a can of condensed tomato soup instead of sauce. This had a nice flavor and was very filling. I used frozen biscuits and wasn't able to split them (since they were still frozen) so it took quite a bit longer on the bake time to get them done. We enjoyed this but it didn't make our favorites so we probably won't have this again. Thanks Lois for a nice easy meal.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
Hmmmm....well believe it or not, we really didn't like this. It was too tangy and my husband said it tasted like vinegar to him. Due to a last minute change of dinner plans this sat in the marinade overnight. The Hungry Teen liked this okay and had seconds. It wasn't bad, but I won't use it again. Thanks.

Hearty Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Delicious eggs, Easier than an omelet as I have trouble trying to turn those and have it still look pretty. I left out the mushrooms as I don't like them and used onion powder instead of fresh. This made a very good breakfast, thanks!

Ribs Fantastic

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
The meat turned out very tender, but we didn't care for the sauce. It was thin and watery and my son thought it tasted weird, so he covered this in bottled sauce from the fridge instead. I only cooked this 1.5 hrs. due to time limitations and glad I stopped it when I did as they would have been burnt to a crisp if I had left these in the oven for the full 3 hrs!!! I probably won't try this again.

Herb Grilled Vegetables

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This had wonderful smoky grilled flavor. Nice flavor in this dish. I used frozen pre cut veggies and had hubby grill them in a little foil boat until they were tender, so we didn't get the pretty grill marks. The flavor was great though. Thanks!

Italian Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This was okay but nothing spectacular. I only used enough dressing to cover the chicken, certainly not the whole bottle. I only had a 1/4 bottle anyway to start with and still had some left for salad after pouring it over the chicken. Our fire just didn't get very hot so the pieces didn't get a pretty color or nice grill marks, but the taste from the grill was there.
