Real Potato Leek Soup

I boiled peeled and cubed yukon gold potatoes in the chicken broth enhanced with garlic instead of using smaller potatoes and extra steps. The soup made a very filling meal.

Rhubarb Stir Cake

Awesome! I followed the recipe and just added a teaspoon of vanilla to the batter, but I tend to add that to most sweets. I used butter like the original recipe. They were nice and fluffy and the topping is great too.

Real Hummus

Used the cumin instead of pepper as suggested. I didn't need much of the garbanzo bean liquid at all. This has been the best hummus recipe I've made.

Green Tea Layer Cake

The cake was refreshing, like having a glass of sweet tea. Green tea powder can be found very inexpensively at your local Asian supermarket, often in the Japanese section. I used the cake flour like specified, and the cake was light similarly to a boxed cake. The cake itself was not too sweet and was nicely complemented by the frosting. I doubled the quantity for the frosting and that was the perfect amount.

Lemon Orzo Primavera

It was delicious. I added extra sauted garlic and about half a sauted onion. If cooked with the lid on, the one can of vegetable broth was plenty. Everyone liked it.

Yogurt Cake

I thought this recipe was great. It was moist and had the consistency of a pound cake but was not greasy in the least bit. The lemony flavor was very nice.

Pasta Shells Florentine

I substituted skim ricotta cheese for the cottage cheese and used the whole egg. I cut down a little on the Italian seasoning and added some sauted garlic and onions to the cheese mixture. It was really good.

Crustless Cranberry Pie

This recipe was amazing. The entire pie was eaten at Thanksgivng dinner, even by people who don't really like cranberry. It tastes somewhat like shortbread or maybe a tart, but is extremely moist and gets a little crunchy on top. It was also really easy to make.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

The last few times I made regular mashed potatoes in advance, they really dried out overnight and when reheating. These potatoes stayed very creamy and moist, even though we microwaved them a few times. They were good with gravy.

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

I'll be making them today for the fifth time. Everyone loves them. They're not too sweet and they really do mellow out the pumpkin flavor. Great topped with whip cream.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Wonderful meal! I'm 21 and end up cooking a lot for my boyfriend/roommates/friends. Everyone who has tried this recipe LOVES it and can't beleive they've never had quinoa before. I have to sub Chicken broth for vegetable broth because of availability, but otherwise I follow the direction. It serves a great meal for about five people.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

This is an awesome recipe for ginger molasses cookies. I'm not a fan of making huge ones (mostly because I can never get the center done before the outsides start to burn), but this recipe works wonderfully for smaller gingersnaps. Everyone who has tasted them has loved them and asked for more. Since first trying this recipe two months ago I've made them six times. Definitely a recipe worth making. :)
