What I do......
About this Cook
My name is Melissa and I am a wife to a wonderful and kind husband of over 15 years & working mother of two cute girls and I enjoy cooking (baking really) & E-Bay. My true enjoyment in my "spare time" is flower arranging. I work with silks and LOVE the aged, Italian~Tuscan look and aged wrought iron.
My favorite things to cook
I adore making desserts. Whenever there is a party, I am always "told" I am making the dessert..usually something Chocolate!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The year 2004 was the first year I made the family turkey dinner at Thanksgiving. I was so nervous, but it turned out wonderfully and I was so proud. Everyone was surprised! I've been doing it every year since.
My cooking triumphs
My Anniversary dinner!!
My cooking tragedies
I've had quite a few over my 15 years of marriage, but the two things that sticks out the most is the "shrinky dink" chicken..I asked my husband (boyfriend at the time)to put the chicken and rice in the oven when he came home from work and I could take it out when I got home. He didn't take the plastic lid off the 9x13 pan and put it in the 350 degree oven. It shrank up in the pan and we had a nice dinner out that evening. Another time after we were married and in our own home hosting Easter for one of the first times, I made a Jell-o Poke cake..well it turned into a landslide cake! The top layer of the cake split in two and slid down the bottom layer to the plate! It looked like the grand canyon! We had a good laugh. It was still real tasty!! I'm sticking with the 9x13 pan for now on! ;0)

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets
This was a FANTASTIC dish! I used 2 teaspoons of prepared mustard instead of the 4 teaspoons of the Dijon mustard, I didn't have it. My family likes sweet instead of spicy.. Personally I was ready to have cereal for dinner, as a person who DOES NOT like fish at all, I really enjoyed this! I would make this again in a heartbeat! I am putting this in my "internet cookbook" to make again!

Waffles II
It's Sunday morning, I have 2 eggs and no box mix for pancakes or waffles. I grab the iPod, hit safari, and search for waffles on allrecipes. This one pops up first. I see the rave reviews, check for supplies and start mixing. I didn't mix the eggs the way it said, I just put them in the bowl with every thing else and I added vanilla. About 2 teaspoons. Fantastic! Hubby loved them! This is a keeper.

Strawberry Vinaigrette
Not a Vinaigrette at all. More like a Strawberry Ranch. I did not like it at all.
